We had the privilege of hosting an NRP training at Held with Little Lungs Resuscitation.

NRP stands for Neonatal Resuscitation, the skills we use to support a baby who needs help transitioning and breathing well after birth. It’s something we hope to use rarely, but we practice often so we’re ready if the moment comes.

Midwifery teams from across our area gathered with us for a day of hands-on learning, practice, and shared experience. There is something meaningful about being in a room like that, learning alongside others who carry the same responsibility and care deeply about the families they serve.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to keep growing, and for a community that shows up for each other in this work.

Thank you Little Lungs Resuscitation for equipping and supporting our community so well.

Held in Loving Hands 🤍

Meet Esme
Born July 30, 2025
7 lbs 5 oz • 21 inches

Sometimes birth stories carry threads that begin long before labor ever starts.

Esme’s journey into the world began late in the evening when her mama’s water broke. After connecting with the team and making her way in, the birth center was ready and waiting. The tub had already been filled, and her mama knew right away she needed to settle into the water, finding comfort and rhythm there as labor unfolded.

Labor moved steadily through the quiet overnight hours. Esme’s mama leaned into each wave with quiet strength and trust, surrounded by steady support and encouragement. Toward the end of labor, a prayer spoken over her by her midwife became a deeply sweet and pivotal moment, bringing calm and renewed strength as she prepared to meet her daughter.

As Esme made her way into the world, her mama kept her hands on her the entire time, guiding her daughter gently into the world and into her mama’s loving hands, lifting her up to her chest from the water. It was a tender, powerful moment filled with connection, awe, and deep love.

This birth also held a special layer of connection for the family. While Caroline was out of town, Esme was welcomed by a trusted midwife covering care for Held. It was especially meaningful to have a familiar, supportive presence as this family welcomed their second daughter. We are so grateful for the community of care that surrounds our families and the relationships that allow us to support one another well.

Welcome, Esme. You were welcomed with love from your very first moment.

Held in Perfect Timing ⏳

Meet Eliza Pearl
Born June 28, 2025
7 lbs • 20 inches

Waiting is one of the hardest and holiest parts of birth.

When families come into care at Held, we talk often about the due window and the reality that babies can be born anytime between 37 and 42 weeks and still be safely welcomed out of hospital. We talk about patience, listening, and trusting the process. Still, waiting can feel long when you are so ready to meet the baby you already love so deeply.

Eliza’s parents learned this firsthand. As first-time parents, they waited all the way to 42 weeks to finally meet their daughter. Day after day, they showed up with quiet strength, steady resolve, and so much love for the baby they knew would arrive exactly when she was meant to.

And she did.

When labor finally began, it was clear that Eliza had chosen her moment. After weeks of waiting, everything unfolded with purpose and intention. Her parents worked hard, stayed present, and leaned into the trust they had built throughout pregnancy as they prepared to welcome their sweet girl.

In the early morning hours, Eliza made her way into her parents’ arms, right on her birthday. Not early. Not late. Exactly on time. The long wait melted into joy as they finally met the baby who had already taught them so much about patience and trust.

Welcome, Eliza Pearl. Your story began in perfect timing.

No appointment needed. Just stop in.

We know building your birth team is an important part of preparing for your baby, and doulas can be such meaningful support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. If you are still exploring doula support, our friends at Magnolia Birth Doula Services are hosting a fun Doula Speed Dating event later this week where families can meet several local doulas and find a good fit. Scroll to see their event details and registration information.

We love supporting families as they build the birth team that feels right for them.

“I lie awake
calculating the distance
from womb to the world.
It is such a short road to travel.

You are nearly here,
less than arm’s length away.

There is but the patient opening
of one long-awaited flower,
the quiet mechanics
of one perfectly crafted key
turning in the lock of my body
and moving through.

Blood and water ring of fire,
life and death and breath and rest.
I offer up my utter surrender
to the God who knit you together
in the secret of this womb.

It is such a short road to travel,
as I, my child, deliver you—
so God delivers me.”
Mackenzie Chester

A client painted this beautiful painting for us, and it stopped us in our tracks. Birth has a way of reminding us how thin the veil really is between holding and releasing, strength and surrender, heaven and earth.

We are grateful for the families who trust us with moments this sacred.❤️

Held in Brave Surrender 🤍

Meet Edaline
Born June 1, 2025
8 lbs 8 oz • 22 inches

Edaline’s birth was a beautiful reminder of what can unfold when courage rises and fear is gently surrendered. After days of stop-and-start labor, her mama listened closely to her body, and when things finally shifted, they moved with gentle certainty. The birth team arrived at their home only a short time before Edaline made her quick entrance into the world.

Her big siblings were a shining part of her story, sharing birth affirmations they had made for their mama, offering hands to hold, and helping get the tub just right. Their excitement and tenderness filled the room with such sweetness, especially as they waited to discover whether their new sibling would be a boy or a girl.

Edaline surprised everyone by arriving on her daddy’s birthday, making the day forever shared and even more meaningful.

Welcome, sweet Edaline. From the beginning, you brought courage, connection, and joy. 🤍
