✝️ Easter Vigil is a night of waiting, watching, and holding light in the darkness.
How closely this mirrors the work of serving aging adults.

As care managers, we often sit with people in the “in-between”—between independence and needing support, between uncertainty and clarity, between fear and hope. And just like the Vigil, our role is to bring presence, patience, and steady light.

Whether it’s helping a family navigate care decisions, coordinating resources, or offering reassurance during a difficult transition, it is an honor serve our seniors and their families. It reaches us humility, and hope.

Wishing all who celebrate a meaningful Easter season. 🌿✨💜

💜 A common phrase we hear when someone is thinking about moving or downsizing: “I’m not ready yet.”
Often, it really means: “I don’t know what to do with all my stuff.”
We can help you create a plan to minimize overwhelm.

Here are a few ideas to get started:

• Capture photos, videos & stories
– Photograph meaningful items
– Record the stories behind them
– Share with loved ones
– Keep the memories without keeping every object

• Try Swedish Death Cleaning
– A thoughtful Scandinavian practice
– Reduce unnecessary items now to ease the burden later
– Tackle papers, old dishes, and long-ignored boxes
– A meaningful gift to your family

• Don’t walk the road alone
– We can help you remove clutter and support smooth and dignified transitions💜

“What if don't know what level of care my loved one needs?" 🤔
If you're asking this, you're not behind or alone.
You're exactly where most families begin.
Care needs rarely arrive clearly.
They show up quietly - and inconsistently.
One week everything feels like it’s okay and the next week feels like a crisis.
• A fall. An injury.
• Medication management complexities.
• Memory changes.
• Loneliness. Depression.
• Not eating well. Unkempt. Skin concerns.

🌟 We have 20+ years of insider expertise on the complex healthcare system and help families separate urgency from fear - Exploring options that fit.

💜 You don't need to know the "right" level of care.
You just need someone to help you take the next step - without pressure. Without guilt.

My favorite moment from the parade on Sunday was a question about what we do at Dignified Transitions.

The question was "What is you girls are doing? That's right you make growing old fun!"

💜 ☘️ Today we participated in my hometown's rescheduled St. Patrick's Day parade and supported my sister's event! The weather called for a warm layer - opportunity to wear a fantastic Christmas gift from my nephew Lucas!

Malana surprised me sporting her own layer of fur.

We're eagerly awaiting baby number 5 in three weeks! 🩷 🩵

Tax season 🤔

💜 Tax breaks If you (or someone you love) is 65+

Here are a few to check out:

👉 Bigger standard deduction (federal)
Once you hit 65, you get a higher deduction through the Internal Revenue Service. Simple, automatic, and lowers what you owe.

👉 Minnesota Social Security subtraction
Minnesota now allows many seniors to subtract some—or even all—of their Social Security from state taxes depending on income. This has been a big win for retirees.

👉 Property Tax Refund
Through the Minnesota Department of Revenue, many seniors qualify for a refund based on income and property taxes paid.

👉 Medical expense deductions
Premiums, prescriptions, long-term care… it can add up. If it crosses a certain threshold, it may reduce your taxable income.

👉 Special senior income tax subtraction (MN)
Minnesota also offers an additional income-based subtraction for seniors—separate from Social Security. Not everyone qualifies, but it’s worth checking.

👉 Charitable giving from IRAs (70½+)
You can donate directly from an IRA and avoid paying taxes on that amount. Great if you already give regularly.

💡 Have this conversation with a tax professional.

💜 If you’re helping aging parents or clients navigate this, these few items can make a meaningful difference.

Two of my friends lost a parent this week, one lost their Dad, one lost their Mom.

Honoring their life isn't about moving on, but carrying their love forward-in your memories, your choices, and the moments you still feel them with you.

Your grief is a reflection of your love...and a love that never leaves 💜

At Dignified Transitions, we believe to honor a life is to carry their loved forward 💜
