When the "Normal" Days Start to Fade: Navigating the Dementia Journey 💜
If you have noticed Mom or Dad becoming increasingly confused, forgetful, or frustrated by daily tasks, you know that a dementia diagnosis doesn't just affect the patient; it affects the whole family. The weight of caregiving can quickly become overwhelming, but we want you to know that you don’t have to walk this path alone.
At The Meadows, our mission is to simplify life for the person and the family. We believe that a diagnosis should not mean the end of a joyful, dignified life; it just means finding a new environment where your loved one can thrive.
How The Meadows Simplifies the Journey:
We specialize in providing a predictable, social, and safe residential environment. By taking over the "heavy lifting"—like cooking three balanced meals a day, managing weekly housekeeping, and providing 24/7 staffing—we allow you to stop being a "manager" and start being a son or daughter again.
Join Our Caregiver Support Group:
We also believe in caring for the caregiver. We host a Dementia Caregiver Support Group right here at The Meadows to provide a safe space for sharing stories, advice, and encouragement.
When: Every 3rd Thursday of the month at 2:00 PM
Where: The Meadows Senior Living
Contact: Reach out to Sammie Brown at (936) 707-8894 for more information or to let us know you’ll be attending.
Finding the Right Fit:
We are a perfect fit for seniors with dementia who are calm, non-combative, and not a risk for "elopement" (wandering outside of the building).
What if the safety needs are higher?
If you have concerns about a loved one wandering or becoming combative at home, please reach out anyway. We have the experience and the local Lufkin network to help guide you toward the right specialized resources and "helps" for your family, even if our community isn't the final destination.
