💬 We loved connecting with our Southeast Texas community today!

We had a wonderful time at the Stand Down event in Lumberton, sharing resources and meeting so many wonderful people.

It was a great opportunity to talk about prevention, recovery, and the support services available through the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council and our Prevention Resource Center.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us. We truly enjoyed the conversations and connections.

🍀 Celebrate responsibly, not recklessly this St. Patrick’s Day.

Good times should end with everyone getting home safely. Even small amounts of alcohol can slow reaction time and impair judgment behind the wheel.

The safest choice is simple. Stay completely sober and never drive after drinking.

🚗 Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

Protect yourself, your passengers, and everyone on the road by making responsible choices this St. Patrick’s Day.

Great work by the Drug Free All Stars and community partners across Angelina County! Efforts like Project Sticker Shock help remind adults that providing alcohol to minors is illegal and harmful. We appreciate the students, schools, and local businesses helping spread this important prevention message. 👏

📊 Youth va**ng remains a serious concern, both nationwide and here at home.

Ni****ne can affect brain development, increase addiction risk, and impact attention, learning, and mood in young people. Prevention starts with awareness and honest conversations.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) created a helpful guide called “Reducing Va**ng Among Youth and Young Adults.” It outlines evidence-based strategies that schools, families, and community leaders can use to prevent and address va**ng, while highlighting what research shows actually works.

Early conversations, supportive environments, and community awareness all play an important role in helping young people make healthy choices.

🖤 Black Balloon Day – March 6

Across the country today, black balloons are seen in memory of lives lost to overdose.

Each balloon represents someone who was loved, had dreams, and whose life mattered deeply to their family and community. Behind every statistic is a real person whose story continues to live on through those who remember them.

Black Balloon Day is a time to honor those who have passed, to support families who continue to carry their memory, and to encourage open conversations about substance use and recovery. Compassion and understanding can help reduce stigma and remind people that help is available.

If you see a black balloon today, please take a moment to reflect. Someone is remembering a life that mattered.
