We are available to talk anytime for support and to explore options. Call 739-8622 or 1-800-742-7794 to talk or to access shelter. Safe Shelter
We provide a safe haven for women and children available 24-hours (we can assist men and teenage boys). The shelter is a warm home-like environment. Whether you need just a couple days, weeks or longer we are available as a safe alternative to violence and abuse. A typical stay is up to 90 days. During a stay we can assist you with safety planning, locating safe housing, employment, health care, children’s services and identifying other resources. Crisis Intervention

Court Advocacy
Seeking help from law enforcement or the court system can be a hard step to take. We can accompany you when going to court and provide assistance with obtaining a domestic violence protection order. We have worked with law enforcement and the Courts on behalf of survivors of violence for over 20 years. We can help you understand the process and what your options are. Support Groups
We provide a safe space for you to share experiences and feelings with others who have similar experiences. Please contact us for more info or to sign up. Children’s Program
Often children who have experienced family violence need additional help to recover from the affects of abuse. SFVC provides support for children through one-on-one and group time. Information & Referral

Community Dialogues
We travel in our community to discuss intimate partner/family violence with any interested group. We can tailor a presentation or training to meet your group’s interests/needs. Please contact us to schedule. Displaced Homemaker Services
The New Choices Program empowers displaced homemakers by providing services that build skills and confidence to achieve economic self-sufficiency through education and employment. Financial assistance may also be available to help you pay for books, tuition, transportation, uniforms or childcare.

COURT ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to inclement winter weather and hazardous travel conditions, ALL court sessions scheduled for TUESDAY, February 3, 2026, are CANCELED. Superior Court Administrative calendar will be called on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Superior Court probation violation hearings initially scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, will be heard on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

All other cases originally set for MONDAY, February 2, 2026, and TUESDAY, February 3, 2026, will be rescheduled, with notices mailed to the affected parties.

Domestic violence complaints, well as time-sensitive documents may be filed with the magistrate at the Robeson County Detention Center, located at 120 Legend Road, Lumberton, NC.

50b domestic violence ex parte complaints will be heard at the Robeson County Detention Center located at 120 Legend Road Lumberton, NC by the Magistrate assigned to duty at 2 p.m. The magistrate’s office will remain open 24/7.

Shelter open in Pembroke for the winter weather. I have heard folks asking about this. Let’s do our part and help them out. I’m sure supplies would be greatly appreciated as well as volunteers.

Sacred Pathways will be opening as a winter shelter this weekend. Donations are greatly appreciated. More details will be available soon.

We are incredibly grateful to the SECU Foundation for their generous $300,000 grant supporting the expansion of our domestic violence shelter. 💙
This investment will significantly enhance SFVC’s ability to serve victims of domestic violence, expand our capacity for long-term support, and improve the efficiency of our operations. Southeastern Family Violence Center will be better positioned to meet the evolving needs of our clients and ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by domestic violence in our community. SECU Foundation is pleased to award Southeastern Family Violence Center (SFVC) a $300,000 grant for the expansion of their domestic violence shelter in Lumberton, North Carolina.

SFVC provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, and advocacy services for victims of partner and family violence. The expansion will address the increased demand for transitional housing and spacing to better support victims with children and special accommodation needs.

Our Story

Southeastern Family Violence Center was has been pursuing peace in Robeson County since 1981. The organization was started by a small group of citizens who answered a 24-hour crisis telephone line and offered shelter in hotels. Over 39 years of service and helping thousands of victims, a victim service agency operating 24/7, with a 22 bed shelter. We are the only domestic violence shelter and services organization in all of Robeson County serving male and female victims.

The organizations shelter provides over 6,900 bed nights annually for homeless victims of domestic violence and serves approximately 2,000 individuals annually in all programs. We believe in each person’s right to self-determination, safety, and a life free from violence, utilizing an empowerment model of service delivery. The agency is guided by four core principles: Respect: We practice compassionate treatment of others without regard to age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, income, sexual orientation, marital status, politics or religion. We believe in the inherent worth of all people and in honest, open communication, Empowerment: We stand for an environment where individuals can make decisions and move forward with their lives – free from bias, coercion, and fear, Accessibility: We are committed to overcoming any cultural, geographic or other barriers to share our expertise and extend our services into every corner of the community, Safety: We uphold the right of all individuals to be free from harm and enjoy relationships based on fairness and trust.
