It's Glaucoma Awareness Month. The only way to find out if you have glaucoma is to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam. There’s no cure, but early treatment can often stop the damage and protect vision.

Anyone can get glaucoma, but those at higher risk include:
- Everyone over age 60, especially Hispanics/Latinos
- African Americans over age 40
- People with a family history of glaucoma

Simply living longer is not enough. We really want to live longer while staying healthy enough to continue doing the things we love.

How can we do that? These 3 tips are a great place to start:
1. Eat the rainbow: Choose nutrient-rich foods like brightly colored fruits and vegetables.
2. Sidestep falls: Walking at least 30 minutes a day, three times a week, can help you stay physically fit and mentally sharp, strengthen your bones, lift your spirits, and lower your risk of falls.
3. Toast with a smaller glass: Adults over age 65 who are healthy and do not take medications should not have more than 3 drinks on a given day or 7 drinks in a week.
