A THIN PLACE IN COUNTY KERRY!

Thin places are where Celts believed the veil between this world and the eternal world became thin. Here at Uragh Stone Circle, that veil is almost transparent. It stands in an oft mist-filled valley between Lough Cloonee and Lough Inchaquin on the Beara Peninsula in County Kerry, surrounded on either side by spectacular mountains, with Inchaquin Waterfall as a backdrop.

It's not known exactly how long ago it was constructed, somewhere between 3300 BC and 900 BC, and as stone circles go it’s small, with only five stones in the circle, but then there’s the stone on the right of the picture which dominates the others. That one’s 10 ft tall!

The views from here are breathtaking and there’s a feeling about the place that’s impossible to describe. So there’s only one thing for it, you’ll just have to come and find out for yourself! 🥰
