What is delayed cord clamping? What about Cord blood banking?

Families we support during pregnancy and postpartum often start to learn about this process by talking with their doula, then following up with their OB-GYN or midwife! Let’s dig into some of that research here to help you learn more about this decision.

Post Partum Support-
It's just not talked about enough.
It's such a delicate transition, and some just don't have the "village" behind them.
I hear this more and more.
And it breaks my heart.
Can we change the outcome? Absolutely we can.
By being there, not just offering to hold the baby.
Help tidy, clean some bottles or pump parts, make mom a healthy snack, be present! There are so many things to be done, always. But the most important part in this transition?
Cater to the badass woman who surrendered herself, to bring this baby into the world. It was not easy, and it might have been so many other things to her, that she might not understand right now.
Listen. Make her laugh, Let her cry. Show her grace, so she can treat herself the same.

Heads up: you’re not settled into being postpartum once your baby is delivered!

Whether you are giving birth vaginally or via cesarean, there is one more stage to complete the birth process. You have to deliver your baby’s placenta, the organ you created to sustain your baby while they were growing in utero!

You may find this life-sustaining organ to be super cool or super gross. You may wonder, “What the hell do I do with this after I have my baby?”

As with so many other aspects of pregnancy and postpartum, you have options. Let’s talk about what happens to your placenta after birth, and what you may choose to do with it.

Oxytocin.. the good stuff!
That last few weeks of pregnancy, we don't want to do anything other than wait "patiently" for baby to make their appearance.
What better way to wait it out is there then increasing that Oxytocin? Snuggle up with your loved one, or your favorite bag of chocolates. Whichever you like at the time 🙃 and let the hormones roll.
