How's your brain doing?
This week - " I got a call from the teacher this week to tell me how GOOD my daughter is doing in school this semester. (That's the kind of call every mom wants to get! ) We have seen so much improvement in reading, spelling, math and processing skills. "
Wife of husband with early onset dementia diagnosis -
I was so happy and surprised to hear "Bob" share Monday that he thinks he sees improvement! In the past few weeks I have noticed him take initiative on some projects around the house and his being more engaged with things. No doubt the benefits of putting in the work of Equipping Minds is paying off. Thank you so much❤️. Plus you just make it fun…always a joy to spend time with you.

Does your child need Occupational Therapy?

Maybe Cognitive Development Therapy will help. I got this encouraging text from a mom today ---"Hey Kristel I took DD to the OT evaluation on Tuesday. When i told the OT what we had been doing, she was blown away! She told me there was nothing they could do at their office that we weren't already doing :). She was amazed that someone like you existed! Needless to say, we are super thankful for you!!!"

Got a gift from a student today. With a smile he said "I read the Christmas letter from my old teacher outloud to my family." 4 months ago he was reading on a 1st grade level.

I recently visited Potters Ranch Dyslexia camp in KY where my sister-in-law worked. It was a great opportunity to increase my knowledge of reading processes, Equipping Minds groups and how to run a learning based camp.

The time our high school-aged daughter spent in Cognitive Development Instruction with Mrs. Knauss has been priceless. After years of feeling ill-equipped in our homeschooling journey due to an undiagnosed learning disability, Kristel’s assistance was just what we needed to get started on a good track to embark on the final years of school with our daughter. Kristel’s ability to be able to target the now diagnosed disability, her patience, and her kindness allowed our daughter to feel comfortable learning new and different things that could have potentially been deemed as childish. Kristel engaged her like a capable young lady (with lots of laughs) and never made her feel like there was something wrong with her. We spent years trying different methods to help our daughter memorize her multiplication facts to no avail. Within just a few weeks of consistent practice of the method Kristel implemented not only did she have many facts memorized with confidence, she could also name from memory all 46 Presidents of the United States. After her time with Mrs. Knauss, our daughter’s self-confidence in so many other areas has left us truly delighted. She has started experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and she requests to play family “brain” games. She signed up to play rec soccer even though she had never played a sport in her life. It has been such a blessing to watch her come out of her shell and know that without a doubt she believes she will be able to accomplish anything she puts her mind to.
