What a fantastic way to celebrate fall at Westminster Canterbury! Residents strolled our beautiful grounds while talented musicians filled the air with joyful melodies. Each stop offered a new sound and a burst of autumn magic! 🍂✨

🌟 Resident Wellness Spotlight 🌟

Our residents had the pleasure of attending “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” with Dr. Peter Betz! 🧠✨

This insightful lecture explored the nature of anxiety—what it is, what it isn’t, and the many factors that contribute to it, from biology to life experiences. Dr. Betz helped demystify anxiety and provided guidance on crafting personal strategies to manage it.

It was an inspiring session filled with learning, reflection, and practical takeaways for our community. 💛

A Day of History and Horses in Lexington! 🐴🌄
Our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful outing to Lexington, Virginia, where they experienced a scenic horse-drawn carriage tour with the Lexington Carriage Company. The ride offered a charming way to explore the town’s rich 19th-century history — from The Stonewall Jackson House and Lee Chapel to Washington & Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, and the beautiful historic neighborhoods.

After the tour, everyone enjoyed a relaxing lunch at The Devil’s Backbone Restaurant, surrounded by good company and stunning mountain views.

It was a day filled with history, laughter, and the timeless rhythm of hoofbeats — truly one to remember! 🍂❤️

Our Westminster Canterbury Annual Halloween Party was a frightfully fun success! Residents donned their spookiest, silliest, and most creative costumes, danced the night away, and laughed until their ghosts came home. 👻💃🕺

A huge thanks to The Second Wind Band for filling the Bridge with magical tunes that had everyone moving! And… talk about a treat — we even had a surprise visit from The Blues Brothers! 😎🎷🕶️ They brought the energy and the crowd went wild!

The halls and corridors of Westminster Canterbury were crawling with creativity today! From Star Wars legends to Wizard of Oz classics, favorite fast-food icons, the unforgettable McCormick Spice Girls, and so many other fantastic costumes — our staff brought the Halloween spirit to life.

Laughter echoed around every corner as our team spread smiles, surprises, and great fun to residents throughout the day. 💫👻

🎃 Westminster Canterbury’s Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! 🎃

The creativity at Westminster Canterbury was on full display this year during our Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! Staff members from across all departments joined in the fun — transforming pumpkins into funny, spooky, and wildly imaginative creations.

Residents and staff had the chance to vote for their favorites in three categories:
🏆 Most Fun | 🎨 Most Creative | 👻 Most Scary

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s contest such a success! The talent and imagination shown in each pumpkin were truly amazing.

Westminster Canterbury residents headed out to Blue Mountain Brewery for a delicious lunch (so many great choices!) and then enjoyed a fun wine tasting at Valley Road Vineyards in beautiful Afton, Virginia. 🌄🍇
Good food, great wine, fun friends, and gorgeous views — it doesn’t get much better than that! 💛

Residents enjoyed an informative and engaging lecture with Michelle Elliott, Registered Clinical Dietitian at Westminster Canterbury, on “Healthy Eating as We Age.” Michelle shared practical insights on how a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle choices can support well-being throughout the lifespan. Attendees left inspired to make mindful choices that promote optimal aging! 🥗✨
