Our graduates were treated to a lunch out at Mi Patron today in celebration of their accomplishments. The salsa and
chips started the event well and was followed by lots of great Mexican food, fellowship and laughter.

The Gateway is hoping a new program will come here that will provide affordable housing for men in need in Central Virginia. We have 5-6 men who are doing well and would love to be permanent housing residents ongoing at this building. That would help them and provide a base of rental income for a new program. Pray for the talks going on with our partners.

Wednesday Wisdom

What many of us fail to embrace is that recovery cannot take place unless boundaries are first in place. Boundaries create the space for recovery to happen in a safe and effective environment.

It is nearly impossible to heal or grow in the same environment that is poisoning you.

Boundaries create our borders of self-respect and self-protection, which ALL of you deserve to have and implement. Boundaries give you the room to think rationally and clearly about what happened to you, and what you need to do about it going forward to avoid replicating one abusive relationship after another.

The wisdom to hold, is the first step towards getting better is always the setting of the necessary boundaries.

A big Thank You to our friends at Monroe UMC who provided lots of nice Christmas gifts for our residents this year! The fudge and pretzel candies were delicious and much enjoyed. And the clothing was also appreciated. They had the DVD to watch over the weekend. Residents spent time with family and rested from their jobs. Our last Gateway Christmas was very good.
