Horizon Behavioral Health is the premier provider of mental health, substance use and intellectual disability services in Central Virginia since 1969.

Since 1969, Horizon Behavioral Health has been the primary public behavioral healthcare provider (community services board) in the Region 2000 area, serving individuals struggling with mental health, intellectual disability and substance use issues. The agency offers more than 30 programs in more than 20 service locations. Last year alone, Horizon Behavioral Health served more than 9,000 clients. TAKE THE YOUNG ADULT SURVEY! ✨️

Share your thoughts on substance use and mental health in our community! Results from this survey will be used to support important substance use and other prevention programming efforts across Central Virginia.

To complete this survey, you need to be between 18 and 25 years old, not have taken this in the past year, and you must be a Virginia resident OR live in Virginia most of the year (e.g., attend a college in the state).

In this survey, we ask you questions about alcohol, tobacco/vaping, prescription drug and other drug use, marijuana/cannabis, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, stimulants, mental health, and gambling/gaming. Some questions ask you to reflect on your own use or non-use and others ask for your perceptions of substance use in your community.

This survey is completely anonymous and does not record any personal identifying information.

We very much appreciate your input to guide future programs to support young adults in Central Virginia!

Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel tomorrow’s (1/30/26) World AIDS Day/CHAP 25th Anniversary Luncheon. The parking lot at the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance has not been plowed yet, and the road leading to LRBA from 5th Street is still a mess. Both are city property, and unfortunately, the city cannot give us an estimate of when they will be plowed or cleared. We are especially concerned about the untouched parking lot, which is covered in ice. We are canceling in consideration for the safety of all of our guests.

We will reschedule the luncheon at a later date!

Today, we celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s enduring legacy.

All Horizon Wellness Centers and offices will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19th, 2026.

Residential programs that provide 24/7 services will continue to operate regardless of the closure.
