As many of you know, Kristin is an elementary school teacher out in Sumas. She was out there on Saturday helping with relief efforts, and the community is both devastated and grieving.
We alone cannot fix it, but we can contribute and offer a hand or financial support.

For the foreseeable future, all the donations we receive for our community classes (happening on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.) will be directed toward the flood relief efforts through the Whatcom Strong.

John D'Onofrio's photography explores the forms, textures, and colors of the natural world. Originally trained as a painter, his work embodies a painterly style, committed to expressing the essence of what, for him, is a magical world, capturing both the grandeur and intimate details of our diverse landscapes. A lifelong wilderness traveler, he has made it his life's work to share these deep connections through photography, literature, and film.

John’s photography has been widely exhibited across the U.S. and published in numerous coffee-table books, calendars, and magazines, and has been utilized by the National Park Service, the National Forest Service, North Cascades Institute, and the NBC and ABC television networks.

He is the author of Hiking Mt. Baker & the North Cascades (Hancock House Publishing) and co-author of Images of America: Mt. Baker (Arcadia Press), and his film, Cascadia Dreams, was featured as part of the Friday Harbor Film Festival. He was honored with the Bellingham Mayor’s Art Award in 2022.

He lives in Bellingham, where he serves as Publisher/Editor of Adventures Northwest Magazine.

January is the perfect time to hit reset.

Whether you’re considering Dry January, or simply curious about how clarity feels, Clear Mind, Open Heart gives you the tools, and community, to explore clear living — without the shame or “all-or-nothing” mindset.

Whether you are wanting to put away the screens, substances, or simply reset your way of “being in the world”. This is a 4 week-workshop for you.

Over four Tuesday evenings, Kristin and Kyle will guide you through:

Practical tools of embodiment.

Mindful practices to regulate emotions.

Heart-opening exercises to reconnect with joy, creativity, and authentic connection

A supportive community of like-hearted people walking the same path

This is not AA. This is not a “quit drinking forever” program. This is a curious, compassionate exploration of what becomes possible when we give ourselves 28 days of clarity, and reconnect with our heart.

NEW CLASS ALERT

Level II Vinyasa
Sundays at 4:30 PM
with Kyle.

One peak pose per month. Whether it’s Bird of Paradise, Flying Splits, or Flying Pigeon, we will build the strength, mobility, and alignment you need to enter these shapes safely and confidently.

Is this advanced yoga? No!
Advanced yoga is deeper mindful embodiment and full presence with whatever arises. True advanced practice develops through meditation. These intermediate poses are simply new playgrounds to ground your attention in the body.

When familiar postures no longer spark the same sensations they once did, these shapes introduce fresh intensity. They give your mind new places to land, new feelings to explore, and a clearer mirror for anchoring awareness in the present moment.

Fundamentally, it is not about nailing the pose. It is about meeting what arises inside the pose.

Open to practitioners comfortable with vinyasa flow and basic inversions/arm balances. Come with playful curiosity.

Imagine having the capacity to hold space for yourself and for others: To allow experience to unfold without fixing, judging, or suppressing it. The discipline of presence and the ability to meet reality as it is in order to respond with wisdom instead of reactivity.

Imagine having the capacity to watch your thoughts without being consumed by them: To train the mind to see thoughts as passing events—not truths, not orders. Each one rises, lingers, dissolves. In observing this process, you loosen the self’s grip.

Imagine having the capacity to feel your emotions instead of avoiding them: To drop beneath the narrative into sensation (tightness, trembling, warmth, tears) and stay there. Letting the body reveal what the mind defends.

Imagine having the capacity to offer yourself loving-kindness:To meet your own pain with gentleness instead of criticism. Loving-kindness as a form of strength, an inner posture that allows compassion to deepen without collapsing.

This is meditation in practice, training the mind to meet experience wisely. Because what happens in your mind shapes every aspect of your life. What happens in your mind IS your lived experience.

Those who meditate literally change their brains.

In a landmark 2011 Harvard study, just 8 weeks of mindfulness practice reduced amygdala volume (the brain’s fear center) and increased gray matter in the prefrontal cortex (the seat of clarity, empathy, and emotional regulation).

Now is the time to learn this work.

Therapeutic Yoga with Dr. Marie Bailey

Therapeutic Yoga is a mindful embodiment practice that integrates gentle postures, breathwork, and meditation to cultivate equanimity amidst discomfort.

It accomplishes this by guiding your attention into areas of discomfort within the body, building your capacity to hold space for these sensations while resting in awareness—this is where resilience grows.

The truth: You can’t think your way out of a dysregulated nervous system. But you can feel your way back to regulation—with the right guidance.

Do you find yourself frequently “twired” (tired and wired)? Exhausted but too wired to truly rest? Then this workshop series is for you.

Burnout goes far beyond being physically tired. Every layer of your being is tired and your nervous system is dysregulated. Burnout happens when the nervous system has been responding to significant activation for prolonged periods of time. It arises when we consistently override our own limits, pushing our physical bodies, mental bodies, emotional bodies, energy bodies, and spirits beyond their capacity to rest and restore. We are surrounded by societal pressures to constantly be productive. The demand to do more and give more can lead to ignoring our body’s signals, causing burnout as a result of pushing through fatigue and stress without adequate recovery time.

Pushing yourself beyond limits while ignoring the body’s distress signals can lead to illness and disease. The body communicates through physical and emotional symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, headaches, stomach issues, or anxiety, insomnia, or depression. However, there is good news! The place of burnout is where the healing begins. It is the place where we can tune in to our body’s natural rhythms and repair, restore, and replenish. All of this is available through Yoga Therapy.

Join Dr. Marie Bailey for this 2-part series consists of two, 2-hour classes where you will be introduced to gentle, restorative and therapeutic Yoga postures and guided meditations (Yoga Nidra) that will help you both heal from burnout and help you prevent future episodes of burnout.
