TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint — the hinge joint that connects your jawbone to your skull, located just in front of your ears.

When people say “TMJ,” they usually mean TMD (Temporomandibular Disorder) — a condition where this joint and the surrounding muscles become painful, tight, or misaligned.

Why do we have pain in this joint?

TMJ issues can come from:
Muscle tension (often from stress or teeth grinding)
Poor posture (especially forward head posture)
Jaw misalignment or trauma
Neck or shoulder dysfunction affecting jaw mechanics

At theraphysical we can reduce pain to the area, re educate the system and improve mobility.
