There are seven super committed medicine people and herbalists that are deeply engaged in their studies and about to do their clinical practicums. We honor their commitment and compassion! They are part of our special, "Accelerated Advanced Herbalism Program" due to graduate in January of 2024. We admire you as you engage in this important work from coast-to-coast: Faith Anacker (Wisconsin), Jaime DeSmit (Wisconsin), Vicky Eiben (Oregon), Rebecca Lingenfelter (Washington), Carly Reiten (Minnesota), Diane Wilson (Vermont), and Zoe Klimek (Minnesota).

A very important message!!

This has been bouncing around in my head for a couple of days. Bear with me while I get it out. A friend of mine posted , "The most attractive thing about you should have less to do with your face and body and more to do with your heart and how you treat people. " she's a very smart woman. This statement is so true. It made me think of all the people who come to me with selfesteme issues. Not feeling good enough. I see the beauty in them through their soul. So look at your body as your vessel. It is our job to feed the vessel and take care of our vessel but it is not who we are. To see ourselves as something ugly, disliking what our vessel is short changes our soul. Our soul is who we are. The light we carry. Concentrating on all of the things wrong with your vessel is not allowing you to show your beautiful soul. Living through the soul instead of all of the stereotyping that has happened through social media, businesses who use s*x, skinny ppl whose looks have been adjusted through makeup, all of the body shaming and judgemental attitudes that happen when people feel you don't look like you should. What is that doing to your soul? Your vessel is just that a body given to you by your higher power. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it because it houses the most important thing. Your soul, who you really are. Step out of the fake things in life. Allow your soul to shine. Lose the anger, hate, jealousy etc. Let the real you out. The person you were born to be before the tainted opinions of others got ahold of you. You're beautiful the way you were made. Let your souls shine. So mote it be. Thank you thank you thank you Amen !!

They are so beautiful!

Ever been walking in the woods and notice a fun-sized forest underfoot? Then you’ve spotted clubmosses, a native family of evergreen plants with an ancient past.

Having evolved ~400 million years ago (that’s 100+ million years before dinosaurs!), clubmosses are some of the oldest species still on the earth today. 300 million years ago, they grew to be 100 feet tall. 130 years ago, their spores were used as flash powder for old-time photographs. And today, these now-tiny treasures are mostly just known for bringing some color to the winter forest floor.

While we’re shining the spotlight on these species, let’s clear one thing up – like slime “mold”, club“moss” is a misnomer. True mosses do not have stems or roots, but our native clubmosses have both. If you’re a fellow plant nerd, note that mosses are non-vascular, while clubmosses are vascular. The English language sure can be weird. Also be aware that many clubmosses are protected plants in New York State.
