✨ TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY: MELISSA + HOPE✨
Meet Melissa and Hope! If you see one at the studio, chances are the other isn’t far behind. Melissa took her first class in 2018. It all started when her son’s pitching coach told him he needed yoga over Christmas break. He asked her to find a studio and go with him. She thought it would be a great way to spend extra time together and maybe tone up after losing 12 pounds that year.
After her first class, she was hooked. Yoga is the only exercise she’s ever truly stuck with. Eight years later, she’s maintaining a 40lb weight loss, and at 53, she says she feels stronger than she did in her 40s. Yoga clears her mind, keeps her healthy, reduces her back pain, and challenges her to push herself while also teaching her grace. Along the way, she’s discovered she’s stronger than she ever imagined, both mentally and physically.
After years of encouragement from Melissa, Hope reluctantly took her first class in 2021 and she’s been hooked ever since. Yoga was the first type of exercise that truly felt like it fit. It didn’t feel forced or intimidating, it just felt right. Throughout the seasons of life, difficult times, happy moments, and everything in between, yoga has always been there meeting her exactly where she is.
Two years ago, Hope made her health a priority and has since lost over 150 pounds. She is currently working toward her 200-hour YTT certification and hopes to begin teaching at YOM. Her passion is simple: yoga is for everyone regardless of age, size, ability, or whatever might be holding you back. All you have to do is show up.
Best of all, they get to share their love of the practice together. One of their favorite things to do is visit studios all over, laying their mats down and practicing side-by-side wherever they go.
