New Year’s at Country Living 🎆

We rang in the New Year a little early — mainly because we only have one person who can make it until midnight 😉

Our residents have lived full, adventurous lives. One has celebrated New Year’s Eve in New York City, watching the ball drop in Times Square. She proudly reminded us she was there years ago — and unlike what the news joked about this morning, Depends were not part of the outfit. 😉

Several have visited the city and shared all they saw.

We treasure these stories and the laughter they bring.

🎉 Celebrating 101 Beautiful Years! 🎉

Today we had the privilege of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone — Willie’s 101st birthday at Country Living of Lyons. Reaching 101 years is an extraordinary accomplishment, and Willie continues to inspire us with her warmth and spirit.

Willie is well loved for her fondness for cats 🐾 and her very sensible belief that bedtime is midnight — because enjoying life never needs a rush.

We are grateful to share moments like these with Willie and her loved ones and to celebrate a life so well lived.

If there’s a secret to living well… a little joy, a little independence, and great company certainly help.

Helena has been talking about a Charlie Brown tree since the first — and leave it to our team to get creative! Our nurse, Marissa, spotted a tumbleweed, got inspired, trimmed it down, and voilà… the most perfectly imperfect Charlie Brown tree you ever did see.

But the best part? That smile on Helena’s face says it all. ❤️

We sent the photo to her daughter, who added her own touch of Christmas magic by popping Helena into a cozy holiday sweater. Pure joy all around. 🎄✨

Happy Thanksgiving from Country Living to you! 🦃🍂

Our kitchen absolutely outdid themselves today, and our families showed up in the sweetest way — bringing their loved ones’ favorite dishes to share. After dinner, many stayed to play cards, laugh, and soak up that precious time together.

Our hearts (and our bellies!) are full.
We are thankful — for our residents, our families, our staff, and this little community we get to call home. 🤍

Today’s entertainment? A food fight with a mission!

Our residents suited up with shower caps piled high with whipped cream while their neighbors took aim with Cheeto puffs—trying their best to “stick ’em!”

Needless to say… there was laughter, cheering, and a whole lot of orange dust.
Life is meant to be enjoyed, and Country Living never misses a chance for joy. 🧡😂

Turkey Hunt at Country Living! 🦃😂

Leave it to Heather to craft the perfect set of tail feathers for our staff “turkeys”

We had a few pros, some dramatic birds and an endless amount of ammo.

A few hunters might need to retake hunter’s safety… some were pros, some were shooting each other, some missed the turkeys entirely, and ALL of us were laughing till our sides hurt.

What a day. What a crew. What a whole lot of fun. 🤎

Today we pause in deep gratitude for all who have served our country.
Veterans carry stories of courage, sacrifice, and devotion — often quietly and without desire for recognition.

To every veteran, near and far, we honor you. Your service protects our freedoms and strengthens the foundation of our nation.

We are especially grateful for the humble hero within our Country Living family — one who served with strength and humility, and continues to inspire without ever seeking the spotlight. Quiet service is often the most powerful kind.

A sincere thank-you as well to Gentiva Hospice and their Veteran Volunteer Team for the beautiful tribute you provide to those who served. Your ceremony brings dignity, reverence, and comfort, and we are honored by your partnership and the love you show our residents.

Sometimes you walk out after a long day, the sky is dark a little earlier, and it stops you in your tracks. 🇺🇸✨

Tonight was one of those moments. Our new flag and working light (over due gratitude post) — generously gifted by a family member — stands as a reminder of pride, unity, and the values we hold close here at Country Living.

Grateful for community, grateful for home. ❤️💙

It’s been busy at Country Living, so this post is not in real time… but it had to be shared! 🍂🎃

The laughter roaring through my office pulled me out of the paperwork pile three different times — and every time, I walked into a room full of smiling faces.

A huge thank-you to the wonderful ladies of First United Methodist Church who absolutely knocked it out of the park with their Pumpkin Social!
