🐾 Ice Rescue Success 🐾
Earlier this morning, your Macomb Township Local 5023 Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 24 Mile Rd & North Ave for a Brittany Spaniel that had fallen through the ice on the North Branch Clinton River.
Before crews arrived, the homeowners attempted to rescue the dog but were unable due to dangerously thin ice. Firefighters arrived, located the dog struggling in the water, and quickly donned their mustang ice rescue suits to safely enter the river and bring the dog to shore.
The dog was transported to Advanced Animal Emergency, where it was evaluated and found to be wet and cold, but otherwise doing well.
Great work by all involved. This is an important reminder that ice conditions can change quickly, if you encounter an emergency, please call 911 and avoid going onto the ice.
