🍂💪 On an unusually warm November day, a couple of Council board members and an outstanding community volunteer spent 3.5 hours this yesterday cleaning up the Bourke St. Community Garden, getting it ready for the upcoming ❄️Winter Wonderland event! 🌲✨

In addition, another committed Council member gave up a couple of hours on Friday afternoon to kick off the cleanup since she couldn’t join Saturday—showing the true spirit and dedication behind this special community space.

We’re so grateful for these hardworking individuals and all those who gave so generously of their time this past season to volunteer. This growing season has been truly wonderful and bountiful—a real blessing to so many in our community. 🌻🌽🥕

🧩🍻🎃 Puzzles & Pints: Fall Edition was an absolute hit! 🎃🍻🧩

We had 11 fierce teams battling it out in a perfectly spooky atmosphere—sometimes even in the dark! 🕯️ Sabotages flew left and right, but the fun never stopped. The returning champions, “Jigsaw Junkies”, took first place once again 🏆, with “Piece Out” snagging a well-earned second place 🥈.

Everyone feasted on an ENORMOUS platter of Nightmare Nachos 🌶️🧀, generously provided by our wonderful sponsor, Good Food Good Eats. Huge thanks also to our event space collaborators, West Winery 🍷—their spectacular event space at 105 Vine St. in downtown Macon added just the right spooky vibe to the night! 👻

Altogether, 23 amazing businesses and individuals from across Macon County sponsored this fantastic event, supporting our community and cause 🤝❤️. Plus, three teams brought their A-game in the costume department 🧙‍♀️🕵️‍♂️🕸️, competing for the Best Dressed Team prize! 👗🎩 With the “Missing Pieces” team taking the prize!

This was yet another successful fundraiser for the Macon County Extension, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. 💪🎉

Neighbors helping neighbors improve our communities! 🏡

This November Foster Outdoors will be implementing our Community Clean Up Program!

We want to give back to the community that has given so much to us!

How the program works:
*The first of every month we will open submissions for individuals to email us in regards to an individual or residence that needs assistance getting their curb appeal back!

Please provide an address, phone number, and pictures of the property.

What the work includes:
*Bush removal and trimming, tree trimming, mowing, w**d eating, leaf & yard waste removal.

Who does this program apply to?
*Any resident within Macon County

When is the work performed?
*The last week of every month

Do we charge for our services?:
*NO!! This is a donated service on behalf of Foster Outdoors.

May you apply for someone else?
*Yes! We encourage neighbors helping neighbors. Be sure to include their contact information and address

When will winners be selected?
*On the 20th of every month. The selected individual will be contacted privately.

🎃👻 Halloween fun was in full swing today at the Bourke St. Community Garden and Macon County Extension Office! 👻🎃

We had some truly special visitors stop by—a friendly scarecrow guarding the garden, a stealthy ninja sneaking past the office, who was then swept up by Spider-Man who was swinging by to say hello! These little trick-or-treaters brought smiles and spooky spirit to everyone they met.Wishing all of you a safe and joyful Halloween night filled with sweet treats and lots of laughter.

👀 Keep an eye out for the little heroes and spooky friends roaming our neighborhoods tonight!

4-H is a youth development program that helps kids and teens (ages 5-18) build life skills like confidence, leadership, and teamwork through hands-on projects in science, agriculture, and community service. The young people we had with us this past Saturday are great examples of how 4-H prepares youth to grow into strong, capable members of our community. Interested in learning more? We are also honored to have provided a platform for a very special young member of our community, Stetson, whose Go Fund Me campaign “Steps with Stetson” is inspiring so many. Stetson is a joyful, determined 5-year-old with a rare genetic condition, RERE Genetic Disorder, and with upcoming treatments, he has the chance to take his first independent steps. His smile lights up every room and his determination inspires everyone.
