Threads of Winter: Norwegian Sweaters Art Gallery Display

This month, our 2nd floor art gallery features seven stunning Norwegian-style sweaters created and hand knit by our very talented resident, Ellen Beetschen. The sweaters were made in the 1990s while she lived in a colder climate where they were more comfortable to wear.

These sweaters are on display through the end of November!

Every month, residents at Carlyle Place come together to make a difference!

We pack 50 lunches to be distributed to those in need in our community through Loaves and Fishes Ministry of Macon, GA.
Loaves and Fishes is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless and impoverished in Middle Georgia. They provide essential services such as daily meals, groceries, clothing, laundry and shower facilities, prescription assistance, and help with IDs and birth certificates—all aimed at offering a hand up, not just a handout. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for the poor and homeless and help them move toward self-sufficiency.
Together, we’re proud to support their incredible work!

Our monthly Roundtable speaker events at Carlyle Place are a highlight of our programming. This program was created by Ann Tift, one of our Carlyle at Home members, to broaden our resident's knowledge and introduce the participants to experts and leaders in our area who speak on a multitude of topics. This month, we were thrilled to have Tom Wight and Emory Whitaker join us. These two gentlemen are preeminent duplicate bridge players who shared their experiences and knowledge of the game at our November meeting.

Over the past 3 weeks, our residents took part in an exciting Fall Into Fitness Challenge! 5 Teams of 7 worked together to stay active with daily walks, strength training using weight machines and dumbbells, and fun bonus challenges. Each team had to pick “leaves” with tasks or challenges written on them once the tasks were completed they were put on our challenge tree.

The team that collected the most leaves with the most completed tasks won the grand prize! It was an awesome way to mix fitness with a little friendly competition. Congrats to all teams for their hard work and determination and thank you to everyone for making this challenge such a fun and memorable success!

Be a Good NeighBear Day at Carlyle Place!

On September 20, over 20 Mercer University students joined us for a heartwarming service project as part of MerServe’s Be a Good NeighBear, Mercer’s annual day of service.

These incredible students helped our residents lighten their closets, collecting generous donations for the Macon Rescue Mission. Their energy, compassion, and dedication made a meaningful impact in our community and reminded us all of the power of coming together to help others.

Thank you, Mercer Bears, for being such wonderful neighbors!

Double the Adventure, Double the Fun!

After a morning immersed in the colorful world of Pasaquan, our Carlyle Place residents continued their journey to Providence Canyon in Lumpkin, GA—often called Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon!

We kicked off the afternoon with a boxed picnic lunch surrounded by stunning views, followed by a visit to the Nature Center where we learned about the canyon’s unique geology and history.

Then it was time to lace up and hike to the canyon floor, taking in the breathtaking layers of color and natural beauty. It was a day full of exploration, fresh air, and unforgettable memories!
