Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing firsthand what so many families go through when a loved one needs extra help at home.
My mom has carpal tunnel and recently had surgery on both hands and hasn’t been able to use them. She drops things easily, can’t cook, and needs help with bathing, dressing, and her daily routine. Her doctor prescribed Home Health, and her insurance approved a Home Health Aide — but only for two weeks, and only to help with her shower.
After those two weeks ended, the aide was gone!!!
Thankfully, because of what I do through Lillie’s Helpers Home Care, I’ve been able to step in and hire caregivers to help her during this long recovery process (6–12 months). But this experience reminded me how many families are left struggling when insurance or home health services stop.
💡 Here’s what I’ve learned (and want to share):
Home Health is short-term, medical-based, and ordered by a doctor. It’s designed for recovery after an illness, injury, or surgery.
Home Care is long-term, non-medical, and provides daily help — bathing, meal prep, dressing, companionship, and so much more.
Many physicians and families don’t realize this difference — until they’re in the middle of it.
💜 If you or someone you love needs help with daily living tasks beyond what insurance or Home Health provides, that’s where we come in.
👉 Lillie’s Helpers Home Care provides dependable, compassionate support that fills the gap after Home Health ends — so your loved one can continue healing safely and comfortably at home.
