Finding Strength in the Vine

Scripture: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5

Almighty God, I confess this morning that I cannot sustain myself on my own strength. Like a branch dependent on the vine, I reach out to Thee. Increase my faith in Jesus Christ, that I may abide in Him more deeply today than I did yesterday. When I feel weary or of little value, remind me that my fruitfulness comes from my connection to Him. Help me to rest in the peace that comes from total dependence on Thy grace. Let me find my identity in being a branch of the True Vine, nourished and loved by the Great Husbandman.

O Lord, my Creator, I thank Thee for the breath of life this morning. As I begin my daily labors, help me to see myself through Thy divine eyes. Too often, I am tempted to measure my value by the standards of men, yet Thy Word declares that I am Thy workmanship—Thy poem and Thy masterpiece. Forgive me for doubting the beauty of what Thou hast created. Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may walk in the good works Thou hast prepared for me. Let my confidence be rooted in the fact that I was bought with a price and fashioned with a holy purpose.
