A taste of Italy right here at Lehigh Commons!

Our lovely resident Anna recently shared a special piece of her heritage with us. Born in Taranto, Italy, Anna moved to America in 1963.

Today, she whipped up a batch of her famous homemade pizzelles using the same traditional pizzelle maker that has been in her family for generations. There’s nothing quite like a recipe made with love and history. Thank you, Anna, for sharing your traditions (and delicious treats) with us! 🍪❤️

🏠 Bringing Care Home to Our Residents

At Lehigh Commons, we believe healthcare should be stress-free. That’s why we provide coordinated care right where our residents live—no travel, no disruption!
Meet Donald, who recently participated in FEES, our new in-house swallow study. We were able to determine a safe diet and personalized swallow strategies for him without him ever having to leave his home.

Connected care, right where you are. ❤️

We were thrilled to have our Dementia Program Director, Candice, representing us at Rep. Jeanne McNeill and Senator Nick Miller’s 2026 Seniors and Veterans Expo today! 🌟

Candice spent the morning at St. Luke’s University Health Network Sports Center in Whitehall, connecting with our local seniors, veterans, and their families. She provided vital education on our services and dementia care and shared helpful resources available right here in our community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello and learn more about how we support seniors and those living with dementia. We are proud to be part of such an impactful community event! 🤝✨

🧠💜 The Power of Us. The Power of Now.

Lillian Reda, Genesis' National Director of Memory Support Clinical Practice and Education, recently attended the Alzheimer's Association Community Leaders Summit in Anaheim, CA.

This inspiring gathering brings together community leaders from across the country to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance a collective vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other forms of dementia. The summit energizes participants to expand outreach, support, and impact in communities nationwide.

Reflecting on the experience, Lillian shared, “It was truly an impactful learning and networking experience. The ‘purple’ passion among attendees, the powerful personal stories shared, and the insights into the current momentum in care and treatment advancements were not only inspiring but absolutely energizing.”

Genesis is also proud to mark 17 years of participation as a National Team supporting Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Do What You Love to End ALZ, along with our continued efforts to expand access to education, support programs, advocacy, and research.

Our very own Billy Welsby, Digital Marketing Specialist —the talent behind the scenes of everything you see on our social channels— had the privilege of attending this year’s 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 at Governor Josh Shapiro’s Residence—an unforgettable evening shared with more than 130 incredible PA content creators! 🎄📸

We couldn’t be more proud. This collaboration truly matters.

Content creators shape how our communities see, understand, and connect with the world around them—and that influence is 100% real. The stories we tell, the moments we capture, and the voices we amplify directly impact public perception and help shape the narrative of who we are.

A huge thank-you to Office of Governor Josh Shapiro, Lt. Governor Austin Davis, and Gavin W. Lichtenstein for hosting such a meaningful celebration and for championing the work we do across Pennsylvania. Their support reinforces how essential our creative community is—and how powerful our collective voice can be. ✨

Did you know...
Sepsis affects over 1.7 million Americans annually and is a leading cause of hospital readmissions.
Nearly 87% of patients with sepsis have symptoms prior to being admitted to the hospital.
Sepsis can affect anyone, but people who are older or have other health problems are at higher risk, which can lead to septic shock, multiple organ failure and even death.

That is why Genesis is committed to providing targeted care to at-risk populations, through an evidence-based approach, allowing for early identification and intervention.

Vera Kerschner joined our Laurel Center family on May 7, 2024, drawn to us by our proximity to her son and the glowing recommendation from her brother-in-law, a former resident. Having heard only wonderful things about our care, food, and beautiful landscape, Vera was hopeful. But what she found here exceeded even her expectations.

From the moment she arrived, Vera felt at home in our serene country setting, a reminder of the place she cherished for over 60 years. This connection to the environment has been more than comforting; it’s been healing.

Vera has made remarkable strides since her admission, and her recent triumph at her first-ever bingo event is just one example. She didn’t just win once—she won twice in a row! Amid laughter, Vera joked, “It wasn’t the best way to make friends,” as her roommate playfully teased, “Beginner’s luck!” The joy and camaraderie they shared is the essence of what makes Laurel special.

Having worked as a dental assistant for 34 years, Vera knows the value of a caring community. She now recommends Laurel to friends and family, praising the warm atmosphere, delicious food, and endless activities that keep life vibrant and engaging.

But above all, what Vera loves most about Laurel is the people—the dedicated staff, the friendly residents, and the shared experiences that make every day feel like home. Here at Laurel, Leading with Heart isn’t just a motto; it’s the way we live, and it’s why Vera feels she belongs.
