Valley Children’s Healthcare – one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the nation – provides Central California’s only high-quality, comprehensive care exclusively for children, from before birth to young adulthood. Our independent, nonprofit network offers highly specialized medical and surgical services to treat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex at our 358-bed children’s hospital as well as through partner hospitals, specialty care centers, satellite practices and primary care services. Our family-centered, pediatric services extend from a leading pediatric cancer and blood diseases center on the West Coast, and our pediatric heart center known for its expertise and pioneering treatments, to our Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the highest level referral center between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Valley Children’s consistently ranks at the top of our peer group for quality patient outcomes, patient satisfaction and nursing excellence. Recognized as a Magnet® designated facility since 2004 and granted the gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence™ in critical care, Valley Children’s neonatal and pediatric intensive care units achieve some of the lowest mortality rates in the country while treating some of the sickest kids. News and World Report again named Valley Children’s one of the best children’s hospitals in the country in seven pediatric specialties. Let us introduce you to Valley Children's latest DAISY Award recipient, Natasha Reilly 🌼

Natasha is a nurse in our pediatric intensive care unit and was nominated for the DAISY Award by the family of Natalie, a young patient diagnosed with a severe but treatable autoimmune disorder. After a difficult first week in the hospital, Natalie was transferred to the PICU, where she and her family met Natasha and they knew she would be their shining light in a dark space. For days, Natasha cared for Natalie with a steady, calming presence. She educated the family, advocated for Natalie’s needs and offered both medical and emotional support.

Meet Juanita, a child life assistant who has been changing lives for the last 18 years 🫶

Juanita began her journey at Valley Children’s as a volunteer. When she saw a position for a child life assistant open in 2008, she jumped at the opportunity and has been in the department ever since. She is a part of the team who help children cope with the stress of hospitalization by creating opportunities for play, social interaction and emotional support. She has seen patients grow more confident, expressive and joyful during their time at the hospital, and after nearly two decades of helping kids find themselves, Juanita will be retiring this May. To learn more about Juanita and the impact she has had on the Valley Children's community this Child Life Month, visit https://news.valleychildrens.org/it-brings-me-joy-longtime-child-life-assistant-to-retire-after-18-years-at-valley-childrens/

Happy retirement, Juanita! 💙🦒
