Winter Break = inside time 😅❄️
Need an easy activity that helps kids play + regulate?

✅ Sensory bins
✅ Calm-down jar
✅ Heavy work/obstacle course games

Keep reading below for further details!

These are simple, affordable, and OT-approved 🙌
Save this post for your indoor activity list! 🤍

Sensory Bins
Use a storage bin/box + a base material + tools (scoops/cups) + hidden toys/objects.
Base ideas:
• Rice/beans/pasta – easier for some tactile sensitivities + great for scooping/hiding items (messy + not for kids who mouth items)
• Crushed cereal/Cheerios/baby oatmeal – can be used dry or add a little water for “sensory sand” (messy, especially with water)
• Slime/oobleck/salt dough – big sensory input + let kids help make it for extra learning (very messy—use a towel underneath)

Sensory Jars
Fill a jar/bottle with equal parts water + baby oil, add glitter/food coloring/beads, and hot glue the lid.
✅ Calming + low mess
⚠️ Less input for big sensory seekers

Obstacle Course (movement + regulation!)
Use pillows, chairs, tunnels, etc. Add:
1️⃣ Crawling – great for body awareness + regulation
2️⃣ Heavy work – push/pull cushions or laundry basket for calming input
3️⃣ Crashing – good for sensory seekers when it’s part of a structured course

This holiday season, Coastal KIDS was honored to give back in a meaningful way.

Our team selected nonprofits close to their hearts, and Coastal KIDS made donations on their behalf — supporting organizations focused on cancer care and research, ALS awareness, childhood chronic illness and autism advocacy, family housing during medical stays, food insecurity relief, and access to essential community resources.

Giving back is an extension of our mission and reflects our commitment to compassion, inclusion, and community — not only through the services we provide, but through the values we live every day.

We are proud of our team and grateful to be part of the communities we serve.

🌟 Is feeding time with your baby a struggle? We are here to help you! 🌟

We want feedings to be a positive, joyful, and bonding experience for both you and baby. Sometimes, feeding your baby can be harder than expected!

If you and your baby are struggling during feedings due to:
Difficulty latching or staying latched
Long or stressful feeding sessions
coughing, choking, or frequent spit-ups
Gassiness, arching or fussing during feeds
Limited intake during feedings
Consider scheduling a feeding evaluation with one of our skilled feeding therapists.

During the evaluation, we will be able to assess your baby's oral motor skills, suck-swallow-breathe coordination, and overall feeding patterns to determine how we can best help you and your baby achieve your feeding goals.
