S*xual health is an essential part of mental and emotional well-being. This training is designed to help mental health therapists build confidence and competence in addressing s*xuality within clinical practice. Participants will learn how common mental health diagnoses can impact s*xual functioning and behavior, and how s*xual orientation, gender identity, demographics, and kink s*xual practices influence s*xual expression and experiences. The presentation emphasizes normalizing conversations about s*xuality in therapy and provides a practical s*xual health assessment tool to support more comprehensive, ethical, and affirming client care.
This session will cover:
• The importance of s*xual health to general therapy
• Challenges of minorities in navigating s*xuality
• Common misconceptions regarding kink
• How s*xuality can be impacted by common DSM-5-TR diagnoses
