Flight Operations
PHI Operations: “Indiana 7, scene flight request Ripley County”
Indiana 7 Pilot: “Indiana 7, checking weather”
When we’re dispatched for a flight, a weather check is immediate. The pilot is checking weather at our base, weather at the scene and surrounding areas, and weather at the intended receiving hospital. Operations Control Center (OCC) is contacted to have another set of eyes and determine if the weather is safe to complete a mission. The medical crew is included in this process and if all four agree, the flight is accepted. From there, a flight plan is made.
Shoutout to Ripley County EMS for the great patient care and teamwork!
