Today, we pause to honor and thank the men and women who served during the Vietnam War, including many of the Veterans and families we are privileged to know right here at Peaceful Pines.

Through our partnership with Patriot Angels, we help Veterans and their surviving spouses explore the VA Aid & Attendance benefit, a tax-free monthly pension that can help cover the cost of senior living and care for those who qualify. As a small way of saying thank you, Peaceful Pines waives the community fee for eligible Veterans working with Patriot Angels, helping families focus on care, comfort, and community.

If you or someone you love served during a wartime period, you may have benefits you didn’t even realize were available. Today, we honor your service and stand ready to help you explore the support you’ve earned.

Living Life Together—where connection, laughter, and a little friendly competition are all part of the game 🏀 Lately, we’ve been catching a bit of March Madness fever, cheering on our Girls State Basketball team and bringing that same energy into our own daily fun. From shuffleboard showdowns to the viral horse race game (with some very close photo finishes 🐎), the competition has been alive and well.

But around here, it’s about more than just the games—it’s about the moments we share. We crowned our Valentine’s King & Queen (and yes, they wore it well 👑), celebrated Read Across America Day in true Dr. Seuss style, and even passed the Olympic flame through the community because everyone deserves their moment to shine.

At Peaceful Pines, our days are built around connection, purpose, and creating a place where people truly feel they belong. This is what “Living Life Together” looks like—and trust us, it’s a winning season. Come join us. 💛

We had a terrific time making no-bake cookies with the therapists from Madison Regional Health System 🍪 Not only did we get to enjoy a sweet treat, but we also worked on coordination and dexterity along the way. It’s always a bonus when something this fun is also good for you! We’re already looking forward to their next visit! 💙

It's a weekly staple for us at Peaceful Pines to bring the horses out of the stables for some good old-fashioned horse racing! This afternoon's game provided much joy and laughter, and a sweet surprise for one of our residents as her great-granddaughter showed up to join in on the action.

Just with these racehorses, life is a journey moving in a linear line from start to finish, and we consider it an honor to be part of our residents' journey.

Showing up every day to remind one another that we are here to live life together until the very end.

Social hour brought out some fun conversations today! ☕
While visiting together, residents started talking about the old saying “in like a lamb, out like a lion” when it comes to March weather. Stories were shared, predictions were made, and a few past winters were remembered, too. It’s always a good time when good company and good conversation come together.

🏀💙 Watching Girls State Basketball brought back so many memories today. As the games played on, stories from past tournaments started flowing, and photos came out from her own high school basketball days. It was a special moment remembering the excitement, the teamwork, and the memories made on the court. Some things never change; a love for the game always finds its way back.

Please help us welcome DeVonte and his family to the Madison community. He joins the Peaceful Pines team as our new Sales Director.

Devonte is a native of Tacoma, Washington, but now calls Madison, South Dakota, home. DeVonte is married to his wife Emily, and together they have three children: Eliana (7), David (5), and Elsie (8 months). Prior to coming to Peaceful Pines, DeVonte has worked exclusively in the development profession for the past 5 years. He spent the last year at tre Ministries as their Mission Development Lead, where he spearheaded their fundraising initiatives. Prior to his brief stint at tre, DeVonte was the Managing Director of the Foundation at Volunteers of America, Dakotas, for nearly two years, and before that was the Assistant Director of Development at the Dakota State University Foundation for nearly two years. Outside of work, DeVonte is deeply committed to his faith and his family, and in the little bit of downtime he has, he loves either staying active through the gym, running, walking, or working on his hopeless golf game, and sitting on his couch trying to catch a sporting event uninterrupted. DeVonte is incredibly thrilled to be part of the Peaceful Pines community, where he hopes to contribute to an organization deeply committed to care and service with compassion.

We had a fun day with our little visitors from Trinity Lutheran Preschool! We had an early St. Patrick’s Day party with festive treats and played Bingo too 🍀🏆

Yesterday afternoon our residents gathered in the pub to celebrate our February birthdays!! 🎉

The birthday boy and girl were serenaded by Kim, our Life Enrichment Coordinator, with a beautiful poem, followed by a delicious slice of Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake! 🎂

It is a sweet treat to get to celebrate living life together! 💚
