Boone Memorial Health (BMH) hosted the West Virginia Chamber Foundation’s Workforce Unifiers Luncheon on November 5, bringing together leaders from healthcare, education, business, and the community to discuss workforce readiness, education, and regional development.
The event fostered meaningful dialogue around challenges and solutions to workforce participation and growth.
Following the luncheon, attendees toured Boone Memorial Hospital’s facilities, led by BMH Chief Clinic Services Officer Jeff Mosteller.

BMH Hosts Inaugural “Farm to Finish” 5K
Boone Memorial Health’s Inaugural 5K Engaged Nearly 120 Participants in New Annual Community Wellness Initiative
Nearly 120 runners and walkers laced up their shoes Saturday, November 1st, for the inaugural Farm to Finish 5K Run & Walk, hosted by Boone Memorial Health (BMH) at its Market on Main facility in downtown Madison. The free community event welcomed participants of all ages who joined together to support the BMH Foundation for Community Health and its efforts to promote wellness and local entrepreneurship through Market on Main.
“The Farm to Finish 5K illustrated our commitment to bringing people together to focus on health, well being, and community,” said Virgil Underwood, President and CEO of Boone Memorial Health. “It’s another example of how we’re working to create meaningful experiences that promote healthier lifestyles and stronger connections across our region.”
Our employees showed off their creativity and Halloween spirit at this year’s BMH Employee Halloween Costume Contest! From classic monsters to clever group themes, the costumes were frightfully fantastic.
A big thank-you to everyone who participated and brought the fun to work — and congratulations to our contest winners! 🏆

When Boone Memorial first opened its doors in 1964, its leaders dedicated their energies to the philosophy of
“People Helping People.” In short, the facility was not to be simply a sterile clinical outpost for the sick and injured; it was to serve as a vital part of the community.
This dedication to the community began, of course, by providing excellent care to its patients, and extended out to patients’ families, employees’ families, and partnering community organizations.
The original team of five physicians and 38 employees has expanded more than five-fold in the last five decades, and their commitment to outreach and community health has experienced similar growth.
Long before professional football and baseball teams wore pink in October to raise breast cancer awareness, BMH launched a local mammography program that made this life saving screening more accessible to the women of Boone County. Today, the hospital continues to offer half-priced mammography screenings available every October.
Years before towns and college campuses started going “smoke free” across the country, Boone Memorial became the first smoke-free hospital in West Virginia, underscoring their dedication to overall health and wellness of the community.
Perhaps most importantly, Boone Memorial Hospital joined 10 other southern West Virginia healthcare organizations in 1994 to form the Partners in Health Network. Network members work together to initiate a more logical approach to health services delivery, improve the health status of West Virginians, and assure access to essential health services in rural communities.
