🎈 Today at the Market on Main, our community came together for Black Balloon Day — a day of remembrance for those we have lost to substance use and a time to share hope, healing, and support for those still fighting.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us to honor loved ones, listen to powerful stories, and stand together in support of brighter days ahead. Events like this remind us that through compassion, awareness, and community, change is possible.

A special thank you to Brighter Futures at Boone Memorial Health for organizing this meaningful event and bringing our community together.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to today’s speakers who shared words of encouragement, strength, and inspiration:
• Tom Bias – Member of the BMH Board of Directors (Opening Prayer)
• Josh Barker – Director of Substance Abuse Prevention & Outreach and Special Advisor to the Attorney General
• Vic Jarrell and Jamie Roberts – Boone County QRT
• Sheriff Chad Barker – Boone County Sheriff

Your voices help bring hope to those who need it most.

Together, we continue working toward a brighter future for individuals and families in our community. 💜

Our Story

When Boone Memorial first opened its doors in 1964, its leaders dedicated their energies to the philosophy of

“People Helping People.” In short, the facility was not to be simply a sterile clinical outpost for the sick and injured; it was to serve as a vital part of the community.

This dedication to the community began, of course, by providing excellent care to its patients, and extended out to patients’ families, employees’ families, and partnering community organizations.

The original team of five physicians and 38 employees has expanded more than five-fold in the last five decades, and their commitment to outreach and community health has experienced similar growth.
