UnityPoint Health - Meriter was proud to once again join Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin in their annual Share Your Holidays Food Drive!

Our team members collected over 350 pounds of food, enough to provide over 250 families in Dane County with warm, nourshing holiday meals! Thank you to everyone who donated - together, we're building a stronger, healthier community. 💙

Founded more than a century ago in 1916, Neighborhood House Community Center is recognized as the first, and one of the longest-running, community centers in Madison. Over the years, its mission has grown and adapted - the center now describes itself as striving to provide high-quality programming and social services that facilitate the growth of a diverse, responsible, and welcoming community.

Located in the historic Greenbush Neighborhood, Neighborhood House sits in a neighborhood setting yet serves the broader Dane County region.

Neighborhood House offers a broad range of programs and supports for youth, adults, families and older adults. Services include: Food pantry and meals – They provide regular food pantry hours and seasonal distribution services, including a specific Thanksgiving Baskets program, youth and after-school programming – From after-school care, mentoring, to summer camps, they work with children and teens to help with homework, enrichment, and connection, adult and older-adult services – Wellness and enrichment classes, social programs, technology access, transportation assistance are among the ways they engage adults and serves as community hub and inclusive space – Beyond direct services, Neighborhood House offers meeting space for local groups, hosts community-events, and supports a sense of connection across cultures and ages.

At UnityPoint Health – Meriter, we know that health isn’t just about hospital visits — it’s about social supports, access to nutritious food and community connection. Our collaboration with Neighborhood House is a strong example of exactly this – each year we collaborate to offer over Thanksgiving Baskets.

Each year just before the holiday, Meriter staff and departments come together to donate baskets that contain the essentials for a Thanksgiving meal, and are encouraged to be creative, by doing themed baskets or adding festive decorations.

Neighborhood House identifies families in Madison and Dane County who can use additional support at the holidays. Each basket includes staples of a thanksgiving meal, a protein like turkey and a grocery store gift card.

Last year, Neighborhood House hit a record of providing over 400 baskets to community members.

We are proud to partner with Neighborhood House Community Center and grateful for the work they do every day in Madison. Together, we are supporting healthier, more connected lives, especially during the holiday season when good food and community mean so much.
