We were honored to welcome Governor Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers to UnityPoint Health – Meriter this week!

Their daughter Dr. Erin, an OB/GYN at Madison Women's Health, LLP, is part of our care team, supporting mothers and newborns at our birthing center. During their visit, the Governor and First Lady toured our birthing center and postpartum unit, experiencing firsthand the compassionate care our teams provide to families across Wisconsin.

This visit also highlights the recent bill Gov. Ever’s signed into law, expanding postpartum Medicaid coverage from 60 days to 365 days. Our Birthing Leadership Team proudly played a role in advocating for this change.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase our work and the impact of this important legislation on the families we serve every day.

Our very own Carrie Bennet, Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Joe Ligget, cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist, were recently selected as two of only 80 professionals in the country to present at the 2026 National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists conference!

Carrie's presentation focused on her innovative work in reducing delirium in our elderly patients. Joe presented his research on improving efficiency through telehealth visits. We're truly honored to have such dedicated, passionate team members who never stop at "good enough" when it comes to our patients!
