March is National Reading Month! 📖

At UnityPoint Health - Meriter, we know how important reading to babies and children is for early brain and language development. As proud partners of the Madison Reading Project, Inc., Meriter is able to provide books to families born in our birthing center and staying in our NICU.

And at the Meriter Children's Center, you'll find bookshelves stuffed with books and teachers reading to their classes every day. We even help bring books into our community - next time you're passing by our hospital, take or leave a book in our little library to help us share the joy of reading!

UnityPoint Health - Meriter was honored to welcome Alana Rose's mother, Kim, to our hospital to dedicate her new book entitled "Grateful & Grieving ," surrounded by the care team who save her life seven years ago.

At 32 weeks, Alana Rose was stillborn due to a placental abruption that also threatened Kim's life. In her honor, her family started the Alana Rose Foundation. As a proud partner, together we have worked to honor Alana's memory by normalizing conversations about infant loss and support bereaved parents and families. Kim's new book continues that work, and we're proud to support their journey!
