When it comes to summer, essential oils can make a wonderful addition to any activity. Gardening, picnicking, swimming and vacationing are just a few of the items on blissfully busy summer to-do schedules. Summer scents inspire us to inhale, take action and express vitality and optimism as we embrace this active season. Discover how to use essential oils for summer activities.

*Basil
With an aroma a bit like an herb garden after a summer rain shower, basil's gently activating properties can enhance diffusions and air fresheners.

*Chamomile
Roman, German and Wild: the bright, fruity-floral scents of the chamomiles add calming, nurturing benefits to summertime diffusions and skin care applications.

*Citronella, Lemongrass, Lemon Balm, Lemon Eucalyptus, May Chang and Palmarosa
Grassy-fresh scents resembling green lemons. These oils are great for freshening and protecting diffusions and skin care applications on sultry summer evenings.

*Citrus
Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin Orange, Sweet Orange and Tangerine: juicy, sweet, fruity scents add a summery sweetness to air fresheners and diffusions for uplifting effect.

*Geranium
The rosy, green-herbal scent of geranium adds a balancing freshness to summertime body care applications like washes, lotions, mists and skin care oils.

*Helichrysum
With a sunny scent resembling herb-infused honey, helichrysum provides a galvanizing emotional benefit and a fortifying benefit to skin care applications.

*Jasmine
Adding just a drop or two of jasmine's intensely floral radiance to seasonal patio sprays and body mists will sweeten their aromas.

*Lavender
This indispensable calming soother is a must for any summer-weary skin application. Pair it with aloe vera gel or extract for a winning skin care combination.

*Neroli
Also known as orange flower essence, neroli possesses a spicy, green-floral note that enhances all summertime skin care care applications.

*Rose
Otto and Absolute: Nothing comes close to the rich and radiant aroma of summertime flowering rose, which also offers outstanding nourishing benefits in skin care applications. Try it in overnight applications of facial care during the summer months such as a water based facial mist or jojoba oil based facial oil.

*Ylang Ylang
Exotically floral ylang ylang adds a calming, soothing note to any summer skin care application. Try making a traditional South Pacific hair dressing of a dab of coconut oil and a few drops of ylang ylang.

Trigger point massages are great for targeting specific areas of muscle tension and knots—those tight, tender spots that can cause pain not just where they are, but also in other parts of the body (called referred pain). Here's what they're especially good for:

✅ Benefits of Trigger Point Massage:
Pain relief
It can reduce both chronic and acute pain, especially from conditions like tension headaches, fibromyalgia, sciatica, or back and neck pain.

Improved mobility
Releasing trigger points can improve range of motion and flexibility in the affected muscles.

Injury prevention and recovery
Helps break up adhesions (sticky tissue) and increases blood flow to speed healing.

Posture correction
Trigger points can contribute to poor posture—especially in the shoulders, neck, and hips—so releasing them can help align the body better.

Stress and tension relief
Though more intense than a relaxing massage, it can still leave you feeling looser and more relaxed afterward.

Better athletic performance
Athletes often use trigger point therapy to enhance performance, reduce soreness, and speed up recovery. Let us know if you are interested in trying this technique!

What do you do for your skin in the Winter? The dry indoor air from the furnace running all the time paired with the biting cold outdoors, is a disastrous combo for our skin.

Instead of suffering from dull, itchy dry skin this winter, check out these 6 essential oils that can help your skin feel more supple and refreshed. You’ll be ready to face the day with these essential oils, no matter how cold it is.

1. Frankincense Essential Oil
If there’s one essential oil everyone should have on their shelf it’s frankincense! This anti-inflammatory essential oil can help tone your skin and calm mild acne flare-ups. Frankincense may even help to tighten the skin reducing the look of pores.

Dry skin will love frankincense oil, and you will enjoy the rich scent and how easy it is to add to your daily beauty routine.

2. Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is what I fondly refer to as the duct tape of all oils. You see, there’s probably 100 or more things lavender can help with. So it probably doesn’t surprise you that it’s a great oil for your skin!

Lavender essential oil is exceptionally gentle on aging skin. It may help reduce the appearance of sunspots and dark spots, age spots, and scars.

With its relaxing fragrance, Lavender can help you feel more at ease as well, so your mind gets a break along with your skin. How’s that for serving double duty?

3. Neroli Essential Oil
Neroli is an essential oil you might already find in some of the skincare products you have on your shelf already. It’s well-known for being able to soothe dry and tight skin.

It can help reduce the look of wrinkles, soften up those age spots, and can even help minimize the look of pores. Neroli is gentle on the skin but works hard, and can easily be added to your daily skincare routine.

4. Rose Essential Oil
While Rose Essential Oil is one of the more expensive oils, it’s worth its weight in gold. This oil contains anti-inflammatory properties and can help with dermatitis.

The scent can help you as well through those dreary winter months when you’re craving fresh floral scents. A little does go a long way—be sure to use it diluted (and don’t let the price scare you).

5. Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree (aka melaleuca) essential oil is excellent for soothing itchy skin and your dry scalp. It can help get breakouts under control and soothe skin inflammation.

Add it to your skin routine during the winter months and see how much it can help especially with dryness and redness. Try it on both skin and scalp!

As a side note, tea tree oil is always in my natural medicine cabinet. I love to blend it with Lavender and use it for everything from cuts and scrapes to using it around my kids ears and on the outside of their neck whenever they have earaches or sore throats!

6. Geranium Essential Oil
Like rose oil, geranium oil can help you during the winter months when you are craving fresh floral scents.

It’s known to help relieve eczema, tight and dry skin, skin inflammation, and other winter skin conditions. It’s perfect for helping to reduce wrinkles as well.

Massages that use essential oils, either blended with massage oils or in a diffuser, have been proven to be more effective than those without aromatherapy. Myofascial therapy also involves applying pressure to tight or sore areas to get them to relax. The pressure is applied with the therapist’s hands, elbows, or a massage tool like a foam roller or a ball. You might feel sore afterward, but when the soreness subsides, you’ll feel a lot looser than you did before.

It’s really good for parts of the body that are used a lot or in fixed positions for a long time. These areas include your: neck, shoulders, arms, head, jaw, lower back, hips, quads, calves, and feet.
