We love seeing real-life examples of Wisconsin students discovering the So Many Options there are in health care careers! 🌟
De Pere High School senior Sidney is getting hands-on experience through the Youth Apprenticeship program — experience that has inspired her to pursue a nursing career.
Programs like this are a great example of how Wisconsin schools and health systems are helping students explore rewarding careers in health care — just like WHA’s So Many Options campaign!
Thanks for sharing Emplify Health by Bellin!
Youth Apprenticeship (YA) is making a difference in the lives of De Pere High school senior, Sidney! Her journey began as a Patient Access Representative at the Emplify Health by Bellin Ashwaubenon Clinic before she transitioned to a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Emplify Health by Bellin Green Bay Hospital. Here’s what she thinks about her experience so far:
“Working at Emplify Health by Bellin Green Bay Hospital through the Youth Apprenticeship as a CNA has taught me a lot about what I want to do in the future and showed me that I want to purse nursing as a career!”
Wisconsin’s Youth Apprenticeship program is part of a state-wide School-to-Work initiative. It is designed for high school students who want hands-on learning in an occupational area at a worksite, along with classroom instruction.
During the program students:
➡️ Earn academic credit
➡️ Earn work-related experience that aligns with their desired future career path
➡️ Earn money
➡️ Often find an employer they choose to stay with long-term
