At FLYY, our providers work to be that steady, trusted presence. Someone who listens without judgment, shows up consistently, and helps youth navigate challenges they may not be able to face alone.

When young people know they have someone in their corner, it can change how they see themselves, their relationships, and their future.

Support from our community helps make these relationships possible for youth and families across Dane County.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to April Goss, B.S., SAC-IT (she/her/hers) — one of FLYY’s dedicated Individual Skills Providers & Service Facilitators!

April brings over a decade of experience in the mental health and substance use fields. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marian University, is licensed as a Substance Abuse Counselor in Training (SAC-IT), and holds a Grief Support Specialist certificate from UW–Madison. She has worked across both residential and outpatient community settings, supporting adults, youth, and families with a wide range of needs.

Since 2015, April has served within the CCS network as a Service Facilitator, where she excels at helping individuals navigate complex systems. She supports clients in accessing housing, mental health and substance use services, and other essential community resources, always with a focus on empowerment and long-term independence.

April is a strong advocate who believes deeply in a strengths-based, client-centered approach. When working with individuals experiencing substance use concerns, she utilizes a harm reduction lens, helping clients stay safe through education, informed choice, and compassionate support. 💙

🌿 Outside of work, April enjoys fishing, boating, and spending quality time with her daughter and family.

We’re so grateful for April’s advocacy, experience, and commitment to helping FLYY clients reach their goals and thrive.

🐾 FLYY Feature Friday: Meet the REAL Emotional Support Team 🐾

At FLYY, we take mental health seriously… but we also know that healing includes connection, comfort, and a little joy.

Inside our office, you’ll find a special photo wall dedicated to some very important members of our extended team: our staff pets. 🐶🐱🐰

From loyal dogs to curious cats (and everything in between), these furry friends remind us daily of the power of unconditional love, regulation through connection, and the importance of play.

Because sometimes the best co-regulation strategy is a wagging tail waiting at home. 💛

We’re grateful for the humans who show up for youth and families every day, and for the pets who help refill their cups after hours.

Community care in action 💙

We’re so grateful to Exact Sciences for donating care kits for FLYY young people and their families. Each kit includes hygiene essentials and snacks that help meet immediate needs and reduce stress during challenging moments.

When young people have access to basic necessities, they can focus more fully on healing, connection, and growth. These kits offer practical support while also sending a powerful message: our community cares about you.

Thank you, Exact Sciences, for showing up for youth mental health in such a tangible way.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to Amy O’Brien, LCSW (she/her/hers) — one of FLYY’s compassionate and skilled Psychotherapists!

Amy earned her Master’s degree from UW–Madison in 2016, and her work as a therapist has been shaped by a deep belief in every person’s capacity for growth, resilience, and healing. She centers her practice around the transformative power of play and creative art expression, honoring how the body, thoughts, and feelings are profoundly interconnected.

Amy supports children, families, and adults who have experienced trauma, drawing from a rich toolkit of evidence-based practices, including TF-CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and polyvagal theory. She is especially passionate about working with young children and incorporates Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and TraumaPlay, a play-based model that helps children process and heal from trauma in developmentally attuned ways.

With her gentle presence and creative, trauma-informed approach, Amy helps clients feel safe, empowered, and understood as they navigate their healing journeys. 💙

🌿 Outside of work, Amy loves reading, spending time in nature, being with family, and snuggling with her cats.

We’re so grateful for Amy’s warmth, expertise, and dedication to supporting FLYY youth and families!
