🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to Amy O’Brien, LCSW (she/her/hers) — one of FLYY’s compassionate and skilled Psychotherapists!

Amy earned her Master’s degree from UW–Madison in 2016, and her work as a therapist has been shaped by a deep belief in every person’s capacity for growth, resilience, and healing. She centers her practice around the transformative power of play and creative art expression, honoring how the body, thoughts, and feelings are profoundly interconnected.

Amy supports children, families, and adults who have experienced trauma, drawing from a rich toolkit of evidence-based practices, including TF-CBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and polyvagal theory. She is especially passionate about working with young children and incorporates Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and TraumaPlay, a play-based model that helps children process and heal from trauma in developmentally attuned ways.

With her gentle presence and creative, trauma-informed approach, Amy helps clients feel safe, empowered, and understood as they navigate their healing journeys. 💙

🌿 Outside of work, Amy loves reading, spending time in nature, being with family, and snuggling with her cats.

We’re so grateful for Amy’s warmth, expertise, and dedication to supporting FLYY youth and families!

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to Abby Welch, M.S.E., Ed.S. (she/her/hers) — FLYY’s thoughtful Service Facilitator and Skills Coach!

Abby earned her graduate degrees in School Psychology from UW–Whitewater and spent 15 years as a School Psychologist, most recently at Winnequah School in the Monona Grove School District. Throughout her career, she has partnered with countless children, adolescents, and families to problem solve and support a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Abby brings a deep passion for working alongside individuals and caregivers, prioritizing safety, trust, and authentic connection in every relationship. She believes the brain and body naturally move toward health when given the right support, and she approaches her work with compassion, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard. Abby strives to create affirming spaces where clients feel safe to show up as their true selves.

She draws from a variety of approaches in her work with youth, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma-focused practices, helping clients build skills, confidence, and resilience. 💙

🌿 Outside of work, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and feels most at peace when she’s in nature. She loves hiking, boating with her family, creating macramé, and unwinding with a good book.

We’re so grateful for Abby’s warmth, wisdom, and dedication to supporting FLYY youth and families!

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to Liz Schlitz, M.S., LPC-IT (she/her/hers) — FLYY’s compassionate Therapist, Service Facilitator, and Individual Skills Provider!

Liz began her career as a Professional School Counselor, spending 10 years in public education supporting the mental health and well-being of entire school communities. Through close collaboration with students, families, and school staff, she developed a deep passion for connection, inclusion, and accessible support. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from UW–Madison.

In her role at FLYY, Liz partners with clients, families, schools, and community resources to expand access to care, foster empowerment, and support meaningful growth. Her work is person-centered, grounded in empathy and cultural responsiveness, and guided by the belief that healing happens in relationships where people feel truly seen and heard.

Liz integrates a range of modalities into her trauma-informed, strengths-based practice, including mindfulness, somatic practices, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and DBT, with a strong emphasis on the brain–body connection. She works with adolescents through adulthood and finds it especially meaningful to support individuals navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, identity exploration, neurodivergence, caregiving roles, and life transitions. Liz is deeply committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and supporting all types of family structures. 💙

🌿 Outside of work, Liz loves staying active and spending time outdoors with her family. She enjoys reading, dancing, running, and sitting by the campfire year-round.

We’re so grateful for Liz’s heart, collaboration, and dedication to creating spaces where healing and empowerment can thrive.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟

Say hello to Nicole Bonner, M.S. MFT-IT (she/her/hers) — one of FLYY’s exceptional Service Facilitators!

Nicole is a proud Wisconsin native whose journey in the mental health field spans across communities throughout the state. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Creative Writing from UW–Eau Claire and later completed her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Edgewood College. Nicole has always been passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults — especially those navigating strong behavioral or emotional challenges.

Her professional experience includes work in group homes, staffed foster homes, and Northwest Passage residential treatment, where she supported youth with complex needs. During her graduate internship with Transitions Behavioral Health, she provided in-home therapy and mentorship while collaborating on CCS teams, deepening her systems-based lens.

Nicole draws from DBT, CBT, and narrative approaches, and she loves how CCS and in-home therapy allow for holistic, family-centered care. Her warmth, creativity, and dedication help youth feel seen, supported, and empowered as they work toward their goals. 💙

We’re so grateful for Nicole’s insight, compassion, and commitment to helping FLYY youth and families thrive!

We are still feeling the love from this incredible surprise. 💙

A community supporter handcrafted and donated custom FLYY sweatshirts for our entire staff, each one featuring our logo and the powerful reminder: Human. Messy. Worthy.

She gifted them to our team at our holiday gathering, and there were smiles, happy tears, and deep gratitude all around.

This is what community looks like. People showing up for the people who show up for our youth and families every day.
