When people ask me what I hope to achieve with my podcast, I sum it up in one sentence: “To help people live a full, optimistic, vibrant, happy life—reducing suffering and developing resilience so they can say, unequivocally, ‘I’m here.’

I’ve spent 33 years hosting my nationally syndicated public radio show, Zorba Paster On Your Health, and it’s been an incredible journey sparking thoughtful, engaging conversations about health and wellness—without the clutter, chatter, or noise. With more than 45 years as a family physician, my experience as one of the lead physicians caring for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, my ongoing work mentoring medical students and residents at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and my humanitarian medical work with Tibetan refugees, I’ve gained a unique perspective on modern health care. I strive to blend the science of Western medicine with the balance of holistic, integrative approaches to healing.

Hard to believe we're just over a month into the new podcast. Thanks for listening, and please tell your friends and family about the podcast. Here's a photo from the day we recorded our first episode.

On today's episode we look at two new studies that show cannabis products can help with back pain. I also help listeners with insomnia, gut health, shingles, we hear a Mom Joke, and we get a visit from the newly-badged (and newly-jingled) "Grammar Cops." ("Grammar Police" was taken).

All decked out for Halloween - Actually, I wore that hat for years and years, back in the 70’s, the flower shirt came from that era and the ‘Bells’ well I don’t fit into the ones I had in college so I had to order new ones from London about a decade ago. My glasses - a hark back to John Lennon.

Homemade ice dream with a ginger cake on the left and something yummy on the right - both at a restaurant in Seattle. Amazing that after a fab meal there’s always room for dessert. Maybe we should earth that first, like Henry VIII did in merry old England.

Two photos. The first one was the Badger-Ducks Football game and the second, a rather boring basketball game the night before. I was still recovering from my trip back to India. Zak was shocked that I could sleep in such a loud place but boredom and sleep deprivation took over.

Are doctors relying too much on artificial intelligence (AI) for important screenings? Find out on our latest podcast episode. I also give a caller advice about dealing with her varicose veins. I help a listener with how to deal with her new doctor who is being...let's go with "awful." Speaking of awful, Karl shares a mom joke (oof), and I hear get grilled by those pesky Grammar folks.
