This week, the Randolph gazebo has transformed into a vibrant altar for Día de los Mu***os, honoring loved ones and sharing the beauty of Mexican traditions. 💀🌸
The altar, created by the community, features colorful flowers, skulls, banners, and heartfelt tributes. It’s a space to leave photos, notes, and flowers in memory of those who’ve passed. This year, the event also honors Ana Díaz, a beloved member of the Randolph community, whose legacy of care and giving lives on through the Ana Díaz Fund. 💕
Special thanks to Upper Valley Services, White River Craft Center, Randolph Union High School’s racial justice PBL group, and Vermont Humanities for making this event possible. Together, we celebrate culture, inclusion, and the lives of those we hold dear. 🌟
Stop by the gazebo through November 2 to experience the altar and join in this meaningful celebration. 🕯️

As DSP Recognition Week begins, Upper Valley Services is proud to honor the incredible work of our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) -- the dedicated individuals who provide person-centered support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Vermont.
UVS DSPs help people live full, meaningful lives by promoting dignity, inclusion, and choice in everything they do.
While DSPs continue making a difference here at home, UVS Executive Director Gloria Quinn is in Washington, DC, advocating on their behalf. Gloria is championing the essential role DSPs play in our communities and ensuring their voices are heard at the national level.
We are deeply grateful for the compassion, commitment, and impact of our DSPs -- today and every day.

Upper Valley Services (UVS) has announced a groundbreaking ceremony on August 14, 2025, to celebrate the commencement of construction on the Hamesbest Project, an innovative housing model designed to expand choice and access for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Vermont.
The project, which is being developed in partnership with Downstreet Housing and Community Development, involves the comprehensive renovation of a single-family home in a historic district in Randolph. Called Hamesbest - Scottish for “Home is Best”- by the family who generously gifted the property to UVS, the home will provide permanent, affordable, and accessible housing for two individuals with I/DD, complete with dedicated on-site staff support. Additionally, the existing garage on the property will be converted into an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), offering independent housing for another individual.

Upper Valley Services was organized as a non-profit organization in 1986 by a group of parents and advocates who felt strongly that supports for people with developmental disabilities should be provided by an organization dedicated to this purpose.
Prior to the formation of Upper Valley Services, supports for people with developmental disabilities in Orange County, Vermont were offered through Orange County Mental Health Service (OCMHS).
Working in conjunction with the Board of Directors for OCMHS, local legislators, and the State of Vermont a joint decision was made to for a new organization that would be run by a Board of Directors comprised of parents and advocates. From this process Upper Valley Services began as the sole provider for Developmental Disabilities in the Orange County, Vermont area. Later in 1997, a small developmental services organization located in Moretown, Vermont (Resources for Community Living) became part Upper Valley Services.
Upper Valley Services is currently designated by the State of Vermont to provide services and supports for people with Developmental Disabilities in Orange County, Vermont. Upper Valley Services continues to provide services in Moretown, Vermont, and through this program, provides services and supports to people who have come from various parts of Vermont.
