As many of you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month, however this May it is even more important that we highlight this month because there is an attack on Mental Health. As an African American Clinician I have worked hard to break the stigma and break barriers to access Mental Health Support especially in marginalized communities. People that suffer from mental health illness, people that work with those that suffer from mental health illnesses need your support. Make your voice heard so that there will not be cuts to funding and programs that support those with mental health illnesses.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month Journey Mental Health Center will be hosting a series of events throughout the month and I am honored to be a panelist at their youth mental health event. If you are in the area I highly encourage you to attend one of these great events.

BeMomaware is a wonderful agency in Sacramento, CA who aims to raise awareness and to reduce the stigma about maternal mental health in the African American and Latina communities. I am very proud to partner with them and speak on culturally responsive care focusing on implicit biases, systemic racism, addressing stigma and cultural humility. In a world full of uncertainty I will continue to raise awareness. I am my ancestors wildest dreams.
