Holidays are often busy and come with lots of unknowns, and having a newborn or little one can mean added stress! Some ways to reduce or handle stress are to set expectations, practice self care, make your own family traditions, set boundaries and know when to accept help. If you’d like to talk more about how to handle stressful times, give us a call at 601-521-8716 or email keycounselingms@gmail.com 👶

I know I’ve been quiet on socials lately, but it’s because I’ve been working towards a wonderful new accomplishment. I’m excited to share that I passed my PMH-C (perinatal mental health certification) exam this morning! It means so much to me to serve the pregnant and postpartum population and help improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and their partners, especially in Mississippi. Thanks to Postpartum Support International for the wonderful training in September and providing great resources for providers and clients.

💙 Baby Blues vs PPD vs PPA: Know the Difference 💙

Not every mood change after birth is the same:

🔹 Baby Blues: Mild mood swings, tears, irritability; usually resolves within 2 weeks.
🔹 Postpartum Depression (PPD): Persistent sadness, hopelessness, low energy, loss of interest; can last months without treatment.
🔹 Postpartum Anxiety (PPA): Intense worry, racing thoughts, panic attacks; can interfere with daily life.

Recognizing the signs early is key to recovery. Mental Illness Awareness Week is the perfect time to learn, reach out, and support each other.

*️⃣ Perinatal mental health disorders also include OCD, Bipolar Mood Disorders, PTSD, and Psychosis. *️⃣
