Drusilla “Dru” has been part of the chorus of life at Hickory Creek at Madison for six years, but her story began center stage in Madison, Indiana. A hometown soprano with grand ambition, she studied opera at Indiana University Bloomington, earning her Bachelor of Arts before embarking on a European overture. In Germany, she joined the Wuppertaler Opernhaus, where fate composed a romantic duet when she met her beloved husband, Alva.
For 32 years, Dru performed across Europe, her voice soaring in arias and ensembles alike. Yet her most treasured roles were offstage: devoted wife, loving mother to her two sons, and adoring grandmother to her two grandsons, her favorite audience. Returning to Madison, she and Alva co-founded the Madison Performing Arts Foundation, ensuring the music never fades and the curtain continues to rise and fall.
