PTSD Research Study Participation for Mothers

The Women's Mental Health Program at the UW Department of Psychiatry is still looking for women age 25 or older who have or do not have symptoms of PTSD and a 6-8 year old daughter to participate in a research study.

Participation includes clinical interviews and questionnaires about mental health and behavior of both mother and child. You and your daughter will have the opportunity to complete study activities at UW-Psychiatry, or you may have the opportunity to complete study activities while undergoing an MRI scan. The study will provide up to $150 for participation at UW-Psychiatry, or up to $275 for participation in the MRI scan. Participation will be over the course of two study visits, totaling about six hours.

Participate in Research on Pregnancy, Motherhood, and Learning

The Women’s Mental Health Program at University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking participants that are pregnant or up to 3 months post-pregnancy for a research study related to emotions, mental health, and learning in pregnancy and postpartum period.

Participants will complete 1 phone interview to determine eligibility for this study. The study involves 2 visits on different days, the first lasting between 1-2 hours, and the second lasting between 30-60 minutes (1.5-3 hours in total). Research activities will take place at the UW-Madison Department of Psychiatry, virtually, or a combination of both. Participants will be compensated up to $50 for completing the study.

The UW Department of Psychiatry is still looking for 25-45 year old women who have or do not have symptoms of PTSD and a 6-8 year old daughter to participate in a research study.

Participation includes clinical interviews and questionnaires about mental health and behavior of both mother and child. If eligible, participants may be asked to participate in an MRI instead of behavioral tasks at WisPIC. Participants will receive up to $150 for completion of study visits and behavioral tasks at WisPIC, OR up to $275 for completion of study visits and the MRI session.

Welcome to the Women's Mental Health Program! WHMP is dedicated to supporting expecting mothers through pregnancy and during the early years of life of her child. At the WMHP, we hope to better understand transgenerational effects of maternal psychopathology and trauma on the behavioral development, neural circuitry, and vulnerability to stress of her child.

Our Story

The Women’s Mental Health Program (WMHP) is a clinical research group housed in the UW Department of Psychiatry. We are dedicated to integrative research that spans across fields of scientific studies in order to advance our understanding of how mental health affects the lives and well-being of women.

We are currently recruiting for three studies involving women who are pregnant or mothers of young children.
