Curbside COVID-19 Testing This Week - BOOK NOW!
Right now, some of the biggest questions facing us are:
When can we get back to work? Will there be jobs?
How do we define a "new normal" safely and responsibly?
The answer is testing, testing, and more testing.
We know the messages that are coming out every day...but at the end of the day, "Making plans for ramping up testing" "Looking into being able to do that in Wisconsin" and actually DOING TESTING are two very different things!
---
At our clinic, we have been DOING ANTIBODY TESTS FOR WEEKS (along with nasal swab tests). Meanwhile, our health, public service workers and other essential workers in the general public of WI have left with "coming soon" as a solution.
Just like we don't settle for 50%-75% better for our patients in standard clinical care times, we won't settle for "coming soon" as a good enough solution in this time of worldwide pandemic.
---
"It is our responsibility to inform and educate all of our patients and our community at this time. We need strong, courageous, and ethical leadership now more than ever. We need a better understanding of the overall picture of this pandemic ASAP."
-Dr. Ley

Testing for COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and with so many tests flooding the market we are committed to finding the best tests available. While the nasopharyngeal swab is one method of testing for a current infection (usually in symptomatic patients), supply is limited and the test is cumbersome.
*For asymptomatic patients, we now have a blood test with markers that can point to recent or past exposure, indicating possible immunity.
No test is perfect, but the current antibody testing has a specificity of 97.5% and a sensitivity of 95.6%, which we are pleased with. It takes just a few days for results to be emailed to you.
Testing provides valuable insight to anyone who wants to better understand his or her risk of becoming ill or transmitting the virus.
*If a nasal swab has already been completed, completing an antibody test can give us a more complete immune understanding.
*High levels of IgM antibodies indicate recent infection and typically becomes positive within 3-10 days of symptom onset.
*High levels of IgG antibodies can indicate a current or past infection and is considered by many to be an indicator of immunity.
