In The Moment Child and Family Therapy

In The Moment Child and Family Therapy Counseling to help and support individuals, children, couples and families with an emphasis on parenting. In today's society we are busier than ever.

We have families, friends, work, school and an unbelievable number of other responsibilities. The busyness of life can often cause us to feel exhausted, depressed and anxious about the future. Feeling isolated and hopeless can lead us to seek ways to relieve our stress that only serve to complicate our situation. In the moment we can begin to reconnect with ourselves, our loved ones and importantly, with our Creator. Our goal is to come along side, offer understanding and tools to help with the journey. "Nothing has ever happened in the past, nothing will ever happen in the future, everything happens in the Present Moment." Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now.

September has some exciting things happening! We are moving into a larger office in mid-September to accommodate a new addition to the practice/ministry. Bethany Leonard from Wheaton College will begin her internship and is accepting new clients! She specializes with adults and children across the lifespan who have experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, identity issues, and life transitions. She is particularly interested in working with those in ministry and their families, individuals doing deconstruction work, and those with spiritual and religious wounds and trauma.

My friend`s children were running around mischievously, and my friend was frantically trying to put food in the oven. She barely acknowledged my arriva...

In the Christmas season, there is a lot demanding our attention: lists to be made, parties to attend, packages to buy, and food to prepare. The more I can intentionally be prepared, the more present I am for my friends and family. Here is what I have on hand, so when I most need it, I am ready.

In our blind, hurried rush through the Christmas holidays each year, many of us are much like small children who tear through a pile of wrapped gifts on Christmas morning. Once the frenzy is over, they sit on the floor surrounded by paper and boxes and toys … and cry because it’s all over. Is th...

It’s usually an innocent enough query, often delivered with care or concern by a spouse or well-meaning friend. But if you grew up in a family that ignored or discounted your feelings (childhood emotional neglect), this question can feel almost like an accusation or challenge.

Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and fair; the state of being complete or whole; incorruptibility; soundness. What, then, is emotional integrity? It`s all of those things, specifically applied to your own inner emotional life. It’s knowing what you feel and why, and being able a...

I’ve spent years trying to identify what to do when we fully open our heart to someone who, over time, isn’t responsible with that kind of trust.
