Emily graduated from UAB PT school in 1999 and brings years of experience, curiosity, and heart to everything she does. She’s certified in DMI-C, TASES, TMR Levels 1–2, and NIS E-Stim.

What Emily loves most about pediatric PT is how beautifully everything in the body connects—how sensory experiences, alignment, posture, and the brain all work together to shape movement and learning. She’s constantly inspired by the children she works with and loves discovering new ways to help each one build purposeful, meaningful movement.

When you meet Emily, you’ll quickly see her passion not just for therapy, but for people. She started Sprout 10 years ago as a one-person home-visit practice, and through God’s blessings, it has grown into a thriving, family-centered team. Emily is deeply thankful for the incredible women who have joined her along the way, helping build a practice that honors every child’s dignity, takes the work seriously (because these kids matter so much!), and has a whole lot of fun doing it!

Outside of work, Emily enjoys traveling with her husband and family, working out, hiking high up in the mountains, exploring new places and their history, reading, and visiting their two boys and daughter-in-law in Starkville (hail state!).

Fun fact: Emily spent part of her childhood living in Saudi Arabia and Alaska—two very different adventures that shaped her love for exploring new places and cultures!

✨ Meet Kristin! ✨
Kristin is one of those people who instantly makes you feel at ease — she’s positive, flexible, patient, and genuinely kind, no matter what the day brings. Her calm presence, big heart, and can-do attitude make her such a gift to our Sprout family and the kids she works with! 💕

She graduated from UMMC in 2020 and has worked exclusively in pediatrics ever since. Kristin is trained in TASES and DMI Level A and loves empowering parents to support their children’s development — because every milestone matters and sets the stage for what’s next!

Outside the clinic, Kristin loves spending time with her husband (her high school sweetheart 💛), their two boys, and their goldendoodle, Delta. You will find her with her family often playing at the park, or at the children’s museum, soaking up the sun at the beach, or serving with their church life group!

We’re so thankful for Kristin and the joy, dedication, and heart she brings to Sprout each and every day!

If you’ve ever been in a session with Megan, you’ve probably heard her say “you don’t need me, you can do it!” — and she means it! She’s the ultimate coach for her PT kiddos, always pushing them to try things on their own and celebrating every victory (big or small)!

Megan graduated from UAB PY school in 2007 and kicked off her PT career all the way in Australia! 🇦🇺 She’s since run over 50 marathons and 2 ultramarathons, played college soccer and tennis, and somehow still finds time to travel, work out, cheer on her kids at sports, read, and spend time with her family.

Professionally, Megan is passionate about growing as a PT and always learning new ways to help her patients succeed — she’s certified in DMI ABC, TMR, and TASES, and she brings that knowledge (and heart!) to every session.

But what she loves most? The relationships. ❤️ Megan says the best part of her job is cheering on her amazing kids and families as they reach new milestones together.

“You can do it all by yourself” — and with Megan cheering you on, you’ll believe it, too.

Meet Katie!! Katie is one of those people who instantly makes you feel at ease — kind, understanding , and deeply dedicated to every child she works with. A physical therapist since 2004, she brings a wealth of experience and an endless curiosity for learning. She’s completed specialized training in TASES, primitive reflex integration, and toe walking — and is very dedicated to researching every specific child's needs and is an expert at communicating with parents!

When she’s not at the clinic, you can find Katie enjoying coffee (especially with friends), having game or movie nights with her husband and three kids, or spending time with her 13-year-old chihuahua, Gus!

Katie says one of her favorite parts of being a pediatric PT is connecting with kids through play and laughter — watching their excitement and confidence grow as they master new skills. Their resilience inspires her to keep learning and reminds her (and all of us!) that we’re all capable of doing hard things

We’re so lucky to have Katie as part of the Sprout family! 🌱

Let's start PT month off with a meet your PT series! Our first PT is Mary Virginia- she graduated from PT school at UMC in 2009 and has been changing lives ever since!

When she’s not helping kids move, explore, and thrive, you can find her cheering at her kids’ activities, spending time with her husband, traveling, soaking up the sun at the beach, or deep into a true crime show!

She’s certified in DMI Level C, TASES, and TMR, and is especially passionate about neuroplasticity — how the brain can change and adapt through learning and experience. She is Sprout's lead PT at Caring Hands, and is also on our intensive team at the outpatient clinic!

Not only is she an amazing therapist, but she’s also super fun, funny, and always ready to joke or laugh — bringing so much joy and positivity to every session! 💕
What she said when asked about what she loves about her job-
“The more I learn about how the brain is always changing, the more amazed and encouraged I am to make a difference in how I treat. I feel truly blessed to have the job that I do! As much as I love helping children explore their world in new ways, they give me so much more. The kids and families I work with make me the lucky one.”

✨Big congratulations to Megan de Jong – officially the 3rd PT in Mississippi to earn Level C DMI certification! 🎉 And all 3 are right here at Sprout Pediatric Therapy
-Mary Virginia, Emily, and now Megan 💪!

Megan worked so hard over the last two days, and we were honored to have Jake himself mentor her through a full DMI session with one of our amazing kiddos. 🌟

We’re beyond grateful for this technique and the incredible progress we continue to see every day. ❤️ Our intensives are booked through mid-November and we’re already scheduling into 2026 (!!) – proof of just how powerful this work is.

So proud of our team, our families, and especially Megan for this huge accomplishment! 💥

Bing bop boom boom boom bop bam, Therapy is our jam! We had a great Read Across America week full of fun activities and great progress in therapy!!
