As we approach the holiday season, we’d like to share our upcoming holiday hours.

Monday, December 22 through January 2, our outpatient and drop-in clinics will be closed. Our CCS programming, In-Home services, and Crisis Stabilization will continue to operate throughout the holidays to ensure ongoing support. All services will resume as normal on January 5th.

The holidays can be a busy and emotional time, so we encourage everyone to be gentle with themselves, take moments to rest, and reach out for support when needed. We wish you a safe, joyful, and light-hearted holiday season, filled with warmth, laughter, and care for yourself and one another.

The myths surrounding therapy prevent so many people from accessing support that could genuinely transform their lives. These misconceptions often stem from stigma, cultural messages, or unrealistic expectations about what therapy is and isn't.

Therapy isn't about being 'fixed' by someone else—it's about being supported while you do the work of understanding yourself, healing old wounds, and developing new skills. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. You don't have to have everything figured out before you start.

Some of the most powerful therapy work happens with people who are functioning well but want to function better, understand themselves more deeply, or break patterns that no longer serve them.

Your struggles don't have to be severe to be valid. Your desire for growth doesn't have to be justified. You deserve support simply because you're human and you're choosing to invest in your wellbeing.

Which myth resonates most with beliefs you've held about therapy?

Reparenting is about teaching your nervous system new patterns of safety and care. Your body learned to expect certain responses based on early experiences, and those patterns live in your nervous system.

When you consistently offer yourself the patience, validation, and unconditional care you needed as a child, you're literally rewiring your brain's expectations. You're showing your system that safety is possible, that love doesn't have to be earned, that you can be trusted to take care of yourself.

This work takes time because you're changing the very foundation of how your body experiences the world.

But every time you choose self-compassion over self-criticism, you're healing not just your present, but your past.

Which message does your inner child most need to hear today?

How often do you default to 'I'm fine' when someone asks how you're doing? Most of us learned to compress our emotional experiences into a handful of basic words, but your feelings are far more nuanced than that.

Emotional granularity—the ability to identify and distinguish between different emotional states—is linked to better emotional regulation, decision-making, and overall mental health. When you can name exactly what you're feeling, you can better understand what you need.

'Angry' and 'disappointed' might both feel intense, but they require different responses. 'Anxious' and 'excited' can feel physically similar but point to different underlying experiences.

The practice is simple: throughout your day, pause and ask yourself, 'What am I really feeling right now?' Push past the first word that comes to mind and get more specific.

What's one emotion you struggle to name specifically? Let's normalize the complexity of what we feel.

One of the most profound aspects of therapy isn't the techniques or insights—it's the experience of being truly witnessed. There's something deeply healing about having another person sit with your full experience without needing to change it, fix it, or make it more comfortable.

Current approaches to trauma-informed care emphasize the importance of creating safety through witnessing and validation rather than rushing to solutions. Sometimes the most therapeutic thing that can happen is for someone to say, 'I see you, I believe you, and what happened to you matters.'

We often underestimate how much we need to be seen and known by another person. In a world that constantly asks us to be 'fine,' having space to be authentically yourself—including the parts that hurt—can be revolutionary.

This is part of why representation in mental health matters so much. Being witnessed by someone who understands your cultural context, your lived experience, or your identity can create safety that allows for deeper healing.

When have you felt most deeply witnessed? What did that person do that made you feel seen?

Learning to set boundaries is crucial for mental health, but there's an important distinction between boundaries that protect your wellbeing and barriers that protect you from connection itself.

Boundaries are like a fence with a gate—they define your property and keep you safe, but they also have an opening for people who respect your space. Barriers are like walls with no door—they might keep you safe, but they also keep out the very connection your soul craves.

The difference often lies in flexibility and intention. Boundaries can be adjusted based on the relationship, the situation, and your current capacity. They're about creating safety for authentic connection. Barriers tend to be absolute and driven by fear of being hurt again.

Both serve a purpose in healing, but the goal is usually to transform necessary barriers into healthy boundaries as you build trust in yourself and your ability to navigate relationships.

Do you lean more toward boundaries or barriers in your relationships? What would change if you could feel safe enough to let people in?

Many people come to therapy expecting immediate relief, then feel surprised when things seem to get more complicated at first. This isn't a sign that therapy isn't working—it's often a sign that it is.

Before therapy, you might have been managing your life through avoidance, numbing, or unconscious patterns. Therapy turns on the lights in rooms you've been walking through in the dark. Suddenly, you can see the furniture you've been bumping into.

The temporary discomfort of awareness is the price of lasting change. You can't heal patterns you're not conscious of. You can't change dynamics you don't recognize. You can't process emotions you've been avoiding.

This phase doesn't last forever, but it's a necessary part of the journey. You're not getting worse—you're getting real with yourself, perhaps for the first time.

If you're in this phase right now, know that your courage to see clearly is the foundation of your healing.

It’s that time of the year again... when we get spooky with a little help from our friends in the Hundred Acre Wood! 🎃✨

The Anesis team channeled their inner Winnie the Pooh characters this Halloween, and we brought some mental health wisdom along for the ride. Because taking care of your mental health doesn’t have to feel heavy or serious. Sometimes it’s as simple as a hug from a friend, a moment of stillness, or recognizing that you’re not alone in what you’re feeling.

Just like Pooh and his friends have each other’s backs through thick and thin, we’re here to support YOU—in all your complexity, with all your lived experiences, and exactly as you are.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety like Piglet, processing big feelings like Eeyore, or bouncing through life like Tigger, there’s room for you at Anesis.

This Halloween, we’re celebrating the courage it takes to show up, be yourself, and seek support. Because healing is joyful. Healing is creative. Healing is possible. 🧡

If you've noticed your mental health shifting with the seasons, you're not imagining things. Your brain and nervous system are deeply connected to environmental rhythms that have guided human behavior for thousands of years.

Modern approaches to mental health are increasingly recognizing the importance of honoring our natural rhythms rather than fighting against them.

Your body might need different things in winter than it does in summer, and that's completely normal.

Instead of fighting these seasonal shifts, what if you worked with them? This might mean adjusting your expectations, modifying your routines, or being more intentional about the support you seek during challenging seasons.

Understanding your seasonal patterns can help you prepare for difficult times and make the most of seasons when you feel naturally more resilient.

Notice the patterns, make adjustments, seek help when needed.
