Chavuttidhara™

Chavutti = Foot & Dhara = Flow
A fusion of two words that opens a new path to floor-based barefoot bodywork.

Inspired and guided by the most ancient barefoot massage: Chavutti Thirumal, and shaped by the disciplined fire of Kalaripayattu, Kerala’s legendary martial art.

From using a single rope to the overhead Travel Bars — promoting ergonomic flow, safe movement, and long consistent depth with every stroke.

Chavuttidhara™ honors its lineage, adapts to the present, and opens the world to a new era of barefoot bodywork.

A lineage preserved. A flow reborn.

These photos wrap up my time in this stunning corner of the world. I can’t speak for all of India, but South India—especially Kerala—has my whole heart. The colors, the food, the temples, the mosques, the churches… Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and more all living side by side like it’s the most natural thing in the world. It’s beautiful, humbling, and honestly a masterclass in how humans can coexist without the drama.

Meanwhile, I just heard from my lovely friend Emjay that Madison and Chicago are expecting 12 inches of snow. 🤔

Oh, ok… I’m almost there. Actually—no. I think Kerala needs me for a few more days.🤣😂🥰

Advanced Chavutti Thirumal Training with Prabhat Menon — Kerala, India

After almost ten years of barefoot bodywork and years of teaching, I knew I had to return to the roots. This wasn’t just continuing education—it was a self-pilgrimage to honor where this work began and to celebrate my nearing decade of practicing barefoot massage.

Training with Prabhat Menon is not for the faint of heart.

Even with years of barefoot experience, I had to leave everything at the door and show up as a true beginner again.

Prabhat teaches the way the lineage intended: raw, precise, undiluted, and always focused on how each stroke lands for the receiver. There’s no babying, no shortcuts—just real technique, real correction, and real tradition.

Every stroke came with a purpose:
why it’s shaped that way, how it travels, and how intention becomes impact.

He pushed my understanding, my mechanics, my discipline—then finally, once he saw genuine progress, he revealed his softer and surprisingly funny side.

Would I recommend his training?
Yes. 100%.

Just know that it will humble you, challenge you, and show you how much more there is to learn—even after years of doing barefoot work.

This experience reminded me that while we may adapt and modernize barefoot bodywork, its soul and rawness are what make it truly effective—for us as practitioners, and most importantly, for our clients.

Nandi, Prabhat. Veendum kandumuttunnathu va.

Thank you, Prabhat. May our paths cross again soon.

Welcome! Thank you for visiting!

When I found Ashiatsu, I had no idea how it would contribute to my bodywork practice.

What started as an exploration of unique massage modalities, Ashiatsu soon became the gateway to discovering my deeper calling in bodywork.

We can define bodywork in many ways. To me bodywork is recognizing that healing and BECOMING BALANCED comes through addressing the whole self, honoring the connection between body, mind, and spirit.

I welcome my clients with grounded mind and see them as they are when they arrive. I value their time, safety, and feedback.
