With a period of extreme cold expected over the next few days, we encourage everyone to take precautions to remain warm and safe. Plan ahead, limit your time outdoors, and dress warm if you must go outside.

If you are concerned about your ability to stay warm or have trouble accessing reliable heat, consider going to publicly accessible locations. Libraries and community centers can provide residents with a heated space to spend the day safely.

The Homeless Services Consortium designates “extreme weather nights” or “cold weather nights” on nights of extreme weather or extreme cold in Dane County. This means shelters do their best to get as many people as possible inside and safe. Derrick McCann, Mental Health Matters!

As we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, let us be sure that we are living in our truth. Let this not only be a day to get glory or vain recognition, rather strive with love in our hearts for true justice and liberty for ALL.

My brother is a beautiful brother. A solid husband and family man. He has stood up for many and has met many at the same time. I believe the work Martin Luther King envisioned would show kindness and empathy towards Derrick. Many leaders in the community has overlooked him and downplayed him as a human being who deserves fairness.

I proclaim today to be the day that those who are enduring him pain will Let his Freedom Ring. Let his Freedom Ring to live as a valuable citizen. Let his Freedom Ring to the mountain tops that Martin Luther King work will live on in truth and not false advertising of neglect and hurt.
