Ronnie Gene Vaughn, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday November 26th, 2025, at his home in Hanson, Kentucky.
He was born on April 20th, 1941, in Washington, Indiana to Dorothy Francis Lee Vaughn Dorsam and William Elmo Vaughn. In addition to his parents preceding him he also had a son Ronnie Vaughn, Jr. that passed away in 2002. Ronnie had 2 best friends precede him Ronnie Brown of Velpen, Indiana and Kenneth Smith of Hanson, Kentucky. Both Ronnie's father and son served in the Army.
Ronnie was run over as a child when he was 5 years old and his cousin died in the accident.
Ronnie had a rough life growing up for it was old school and out in the country with no indoor bathroom or any of the luxuries that we have today. Then Ronnie's Dad and Mother moved to Velpen, Indiana. They had a farm and raised cows.
In Ronnie's early 20's he went to work as a Millwright with the Carpenters Union. He was a Millwright Supervisor and a member of the Millwrights for over 60 years. His training and being a Supervisor took him all over the state of Indiana. He worked at AB Brown power plant, AK Steel, helped build a bridge on 64 Bypass, worked at FTH as Vice President out of Newburg, Indiana, FB Culley Power Plant, and worked for PPMI that worked at General Electric Aerospace in Madisonville, Kentucky.
During this time his father had passed and his mother was already remarried so Ronnie took over his father homestead and tore down the old house and built a new house. During that time the bird farms were starting to take off. In Indiana they had Perdue Turkey Farms so Ronnie invested in that and had turkey houses on the grounds of his dad's homestead. He got the nickname "Turkey Man" while at General Electric Aerospace, Madisonville, Kentucky.
His next adventure he bought a store from the Past Sheriff of Pike County and called it THE STORE that was like an Ideal with gas pumps.
While working as a Millwright Supervisor at General Electric Aerospace, Madisonville, Kentucky he met his future and present wife Margaret Zirko Davis Vaughn.
Ronnie Vaughn proposed to Margaret with a ring at General Electric Aerospace, Madisonville, Kentucky after a few years of dating and had been together for over 30 years.
Next was a place that he felt at home with to get married. He grew up without a Christian upbringing but wanted to get married in a church.
Several people from General Electric Aerospace attended Hanson United Methodist Church in Hanson, Kentucky. While visiting this church, Ronnie felt welcomed and at home. He decided this is where they would get married.
Ronnie picked out the date himself for Margaret always loved hearts and the date was February 14th, 1997 "Valentine's Day".

Ronnie and Margaret decided to build a house on land he bought from his Uncle Cleo in Velpen, Indiana so they would have a place to stay when visiting his mother and children.
Ronnie and Margaret loved to travel all over the world. They owned 3 timeshares and when 9/11 happened they were in St. Martin and the world of flying was shut down and they were stuck in a foreign country.
One of his biggest thrills was catching a 7 foot Marlin in Cabo San Lucus, Mexico a sting ray and eating it at Isla Mujeres, Mexico and a Mahi Mahi in the Bahamas. He loved fishing and we would go out on deep sea fishing trips off of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Everywhere we would travel there was always a deep sea fishing expedition that was on our list.
Ronnie started his own construction company R&M Contracting for Ronnie and Margaret, doing a lot of concrete work and home projects for the community.
Ronnie and Margaret retired in 2001 and 2002 so his interest went into real estate buying and selling.

Whenever you walked in the house Ronnie was fixated watching Westerns!
