Dorothy Jean Roland, 83, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at her home.

She was born November 28, 1942, in Denver, CO, to the late Evelyn Smith Roland. She was formerly a jewelry designer for O.C. Tanners in Salt Lake City. She was a collector of tea pots, enjoyed knitting, and was an animal lover. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Dorothy was a member and a chaplain at Covenant Community Church and she dearly loved serving her church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years, Robert N. Roland; and her sons, Leo Edward Wirthlin and Jerry Wirthlin.

She is survived by her children, Tom Wirthlin of Wyoming, David Wirthlin of Florida, and Edward Wirthlin of Washington; daughters, Patricia Crockett of Kentucky and Pam Galo of Utah; step-son, Raymond Roland of Missouri; sisters, Rhonda Colantonio and Carol Williams, both of California; twenty grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.

Rodger Douglas Whitledge, 77, of Beaver Dam, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at his home in Beaver Dam, KY.

He was born on June 2, 1948, in Clay, KY, to the late Carolyn Duncan Helton and Jack Whitledge. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a self-employed tile setter. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Rodger was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Ben Whitledge; and his brother-in-law, John Williams.

His survivors include his son, Jack Cody Whitledge of Texas; daughter, Lacey Whitledge of Owensboro, KY; sister, Cindy Williams of Providence, KY; several grandchildren; niece, Katie (Jody) Collins of Slaughters, KY; and his nephew, Travis (Chelsea) Williams of Madisonville.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.

Mallory Kiersten Julia Kidd, 13, of Madisonville, Kentucky, was born on April 9, 2012, and passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She went home to be with the Lord far too soon. Born in Madisonville, KY, Mallory was the beloved daughter of Charles James Kidd and Kayla Evelyn Calbreath Kidd.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Basham officiating. Burial to follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Williams, Zayden McKenney, Paul McGregor, Dale Brasher, Joe Bowman, Dustin Rutherford, and Thomas Lutz.

Mallory’s favorite color was purple, and in her honor, the family invites those attending to wear purple or fill the room with purple as a beautiful expression of love for her.

Though this world feels darker without her, Mallory’s light has not gone out. It lives on in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the faith she carried so beautifully. Heaven gained a precious angel, and her memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who loved her.

Mallory Kiersten Julia Kidd, 13, of Madisonville, Kentucky, was born on April 9, 2012, and passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She went home to be with the Lord far too soon. Born in Madisonville, KY, Mallory was the beloved daughter of Charles James Kidd and Kayla Evelyn Calbreath Kidd.

Mallory was a beautiful soul whose light was evident to everyone who knew her. She lived passionately, loving deeply everything she set her heart on. A proud 8th grader at James Madison Middle School, Mallory was an enthusiastic cheerleader whose smile and spirit lifted those around her. She had a special love for church, a sincere love for Jesus, and a heart that overflowed through worship and song. Singing was one of her greatest joys, and it was clear that her praise came straight from her heart.

Mallory had a gift for friendship. Her heart was big, kind, and welcoming, always willing to make new friends and include others. She was blessed with a built-in best friend, her sister Marissa. They did life side by side, cheered on the same cheer squad, and went everywhere together. They were truly a package deal. Her laughter, compassion, and genuine love will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

Mallory is preceded in death by her grandparents on her father’s side, Russell Kidd and Julia Kidd; her grandfather on her mother’s side, Dereck Calbreath; as well as several great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her loving parents, Charles Kidd and Kayla Kidd, of Madisonville, KY; her sister, Marissa Kidd, of Madisonville, KY; grandmother, Vonda Calbreath, of Madisonville, KY; uncles, Paul McGregor and Damien Calbreath, of Madisonville, KY; aunt, Elecia (Joe) Bowman; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

Matthew "Matt" James Klahn, 64, of Hanson, KY, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

He was born on February 4, 1961, in Clifton Springs, NY, to the late Alice Louise Kneut Klahn and James Henry Klahn. He was a self-employed electrician. Matthew was an amazingly intelligent and loving man. He was very interested in U.S. History. He was an active member of Clamper E.C.V., a historical society, three times the Humbug (President) and even started his own "Copper Queen" chapter in Yerington, NV. He was the active president of the Western Kentucky Chapter of the National Historic Railroad Association in Madisonville, KY, as well as the President of the Hanson Community Club.

Matthew is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Clausing Klahn; son, Noah Galusha of Henderson, KY; brother, Christopher Klahn of New York; sister, Mary Ann Lynch of New York; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dogs, Poe and Ricochet.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Hanson United Methodist Church, 2740 Brown Badgett Loop, Hanson, KY 42413 with Pastor Karla Fullwood officiating. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the church.

Strother "Stroh" Wayne Williams, 83, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

He was born on August 7, 1942, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Mildred Alice Hatler Williams (birthplace, Hopkins County, KY) and Clifford "Bigboy" Ray Williams, Sr (birthplace, Chesapeake, WV). He was formerly employed as a UPS driver. He enjoyed bow shooting, fishing, and golfing. Strother had many hobbies and interests. For several years, he would get some guys together and bowl on a league at Melody Lanes then enjoy some challenging bumper pool with Eddie Ballard. Strother loved bass fishing at Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley and fishing trips to Newnan Lake in Gainesville, Florida and deer hunting at Land Between the Lakes. Some of his trophies were hung in sporting good stores in Madisonville, KY, and he loved going with his friends to elk hunt in Colorado.

Opening an archery business in his garage was one of many things he enjoyed along with competing in archery tournaments and bringing home many trophies and awards throughout the years. Spending time with our combined children was always fun for everyone. From camping trips to theme parks, to going swimming and baseball games in St. Louis, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Strother was known for making the best snow cream in the winter. Strother was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna "Tootsie" Kwiatkowski, Clara Mae Lindstrom, Juanita Deaton Cates, Hilda Bruce Gammon, Elizabeth Reynolds Nevitt, James Morton Williams, Roy Douglas Williams, Clifford Ray "Sonny" Williams, Jr., Williams Edward Williams, and Thurman "Lee" Williams.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Faye Marks Williams of Madisonville; his children, Rebecca (Lawrence) Rhodes of Bremen, KY, Dawn Renee (Jason) Hunt of Madisonville, Bradley (Amelia) Williams of Madisonville; stepson, Jody Miller of Bumpus Mills, TN; grandchildren, Erik (Jennifer) Rhodes, Lauren Stewart, Steven (Sara) Wiggins, and Bradley (Rachel) Williams; his step-grandson, Ethan Miller of Bumpus Mills, TN; and his great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jaxson, Lucas, Carsen, Ozzie, and Rhett.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Debra "Debbie" Roach Alsip, 69, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville.

She was born on July 3, 1956, in Madisonville to the late Norma Zane Clayton Roach and Edward Thomas Roach. Debbie retired as an administrative assistant from Madisonville Community College. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, traveling and taking cruises. She attended Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson, KY.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael David Roach.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Alsip; son, Dustin Thomas Bates of Leavittsville, OH; brother, Robin (Beverly) Edward Roach of Madisonville; stepdaughter, Julie (Paul) Nicks of Sewanee, TN; stepson, David (Emily) Alsip of Owensboro, KY; grandchildren, Ethan Bates, Liam Bates, Cameron Bates and Gabriel Bates; step-grandchildren, Wyatt Alsip and Maddie Alsip; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. Burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Margaret Lou Thornberry, 82, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at her home.

Margaret was born on November 8, 1943, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Robert Louis and Freda Neil Rogers Burton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Louis Burton, Jr.; and her sisters-in-law, Linda LaPearl Burton and Cathy Converse Burton.

She leaves behind her husband of sixty-two years, James M. Thornberry; sons, James M. Thornberry, Jr. and his wife, Tracey, and John R. Thornberry and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Courtney (Aaron) Lynn; Jack Thornberry and his fiancée, Meredith, Sarah Thornberry, Sam Thornberry, Milly Thornberry, and Ian Thornberry; great-grandchildren, Jensen Lynn and Jace Lynn; nieces, Candi (Douglas) Stewart and their children and grandchildren, and Mary Margaret (Jimmy) Burton and their children, Lauren (Jeff) Ransdell; nephew, Zachary Burton and his wife, Stephanie, and their daughters. In addition, Margaret leaves behind her band of cousins she dearly loved.

Margaret’s life was filled by friends and family that she loved, travel, a multitude of experiences and adventures, and joy. Her boundless compassion for others, her courage in the face of life’s challenges, her enthusiasm for any endeavor undertaken, and dedication to her God, family, and country are a primer for a life well lived.

Our hearts are shattered by her loss. We will be forever diminished.

Joanne Lawson Sneed Crawford, 85, of Owensboro, KY, formerly of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Wellington Parc Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born on August 16, 1940, in Barren County, KY, the daughter of the late Bobby Lawson and Clorine Jones Lawson. Joanne was valedictorian of her high school class at Temple Hill School, and a graduate of Freed-Hardeman College and Western Kentucky University. She was a long-time educator in the Hopkins County KY school system, teaching at Nebo, Waddill Avenue, Hall Street, and Pride Elementary schools. During her time at Pride, she developed a classroom character for her many future children’s books named Buford the Big Eared Mouse. Through Buford, Joanne helped children deal with a wide variety of issues better, including her two published books, Buford Listens and Respectfully Yours Buford.

She devoted her retirement years to her many hobbies and interests. Joanne curated one of the largest collections of darning eggs in the US and created numerous quilts with family and antique fabric pieces. She was always on the lookout for mouse-related accessories, mastering the art of last-minute eBay bids and flea market hunting. She was also interested in the history of her hometown area in Barren County, KY, taking great pleasure in finding unique geographical features and learning more about the genealogy of the personalities from the area.

Joanne is survived by her son, Thomas Nelson Sneed II and his wife, Whitney Bair-Sneed of Topeka, KS, along with their children, Henry Nelson Sneed, Charles Allen Sneed, Penelope Bair Sneed, and Theodore Thomas Sneed. She is also survived by her sisters, Nadine Lowe, Marion Meredith, Martha Ford, and Leoma Copas; her stepdaughter, Leigh Ann Michael; and step-grandsons, Nate Michael and Greyson Soloman Crawford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Nelson Sneed, who died in May 1986; and her second husband, Neville Lee Crawford, who passed away in March 2025.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY. A private burial will follow.

Stephanie Michelle Scott Nance, 48, of Slaughters, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hanson, KY.

She was born on November 7, 1977, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Sharon Lee Ashby Holmes and Steven Eugene Scott. She was formerly employed for the last six years as a shift leader at Hardee’s in Hanson, KY. She enjoyed painting, writing, crafting, and shopping. She loved horses and ATV riding. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Stephanie was of the Christian faith.

Her survivors include her husband of eleven years, Jeff Nance of Slaughters, KY; sons, Austin (Jade) Bellis and Valik Bellis, both of Madisonville; daughters, Lillian Patterson of Madisonville and Parris Nance of Bowling Green, KY; stepfathers, whom she adored, Stevie McConnell of Henderson, KY, and Larence Holmes of Onton, KY; brothers, Larry (Wilma) Scott of Livermore, KY, and Clint Scott of Michigan; sisters, Crinnia (Edgar) Godinez and Blonie Martin, both of Ashbyburg, KY; grandchildren, Rylee, Kynzlee, Lili, Wrenley, Hayden, Baela; a nephew she considered a son, Benjie Onan; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Elsie Wood Rodgers Hollander, 99, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

She was born on October 7, 1926, in Highland Park, MI, to the late Mayme Clayton Wood and James Wood. She was an employee of the Hopkins County School Board where she taught as a school teacher for forty-six years at Grapevine Elementary School and was remembered well for her directing the Tom Thumb's weddings. She had a passion for shopping and was known for her beautiful style from her home decorating to her fashion. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved entertaining. Elsie was a member of First Christian Church in Madisonville where she loved directing the Lord's Supper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jewell Rodgers; and her second husband, Leroy Hollander.

Elsie is survived by her stepdaughter, Barbara (Denny) Deweese of Rockport, IN.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Brom Shannon Embry officiating. Burial to follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.
