How it Began
My name is Maggie McDonald. At the time of this is being written, I am a 15-year-old high school sophomore.
I would like to tell you the story of M² Genetics and Testing, LLC. Our story started in 2014 when I began showing market goats. This passion quickly grew for not only me, but my whole family. The next year my sister began showing and my dad bought a set of does from Walker Show Goats in Eastland, Texas. We also began showing sheep as well. We had a plan. We would breed the does and sell the kids to help offset some of the cost of the show animals. With our first kidding season, we had does kidding for what seemed like an eternity. During the next breeding season, my dad did some research and found BioPryn. We located a certified lab in Montana. We used this service for several years to determine which does were bred or not. This way we could calculate kidding for that doe and/or rebreed her after 30 days if not pregnant. This past year, the lab in Montana closed. This got me to thinking, I should open my own lab and it be part my Goat Production SAE for FFA. So here we are!
