In September, Freckles arrived at JoyRide Center as a generous donation.
In his previous career, he was a barrel racing horse, fast, focused, and full of heart. Several years ago, an infection left him with a permanent tracheostomy. His competitive days came to an end, but his story was far from over.
This week, Freckles stepped into the arena for the first time in his new role. He supported his very first Therapeutic Riding client.
With a calm, willing spirit, Freckles carried his rider with steady, intentional movement. You could see it in the way he listened, in the way he settled into the rhythm of the lesson. And in that first ride, it was clear. He loves his new job. The steady rhythm of his stride will help riders grow stronger.
His calm presence will help ease anxious moments. His willingness will help build trust. Freckles is not just beginning a new career. He is stepping into work that will change lives and improve the daily experience of the individuals we serve.
