Hi! I am a registered nurse with over 20 years in healthcare. I am scared. Healthcare is in a middle of a crisis. As a whole we are disease-ridden, overweight, not living an optimum life and spiraling down a preventable hole. I hold the hands of patients that are past the point of no return. All they desire is to be able to do it over again. They wish they would have made better lifestyle choices so they can be there for their families, smile, be happy, travel and experience life with a body, mind and spirit that is whole. Medications can be helpful and sometimes are necessary. Many times they are not. Why not try things with minimal side effects and are cost effective. What if we can attain the same or better results with proper nutrition and lifestyle choices?
Functional Medicine focuses on the root of the underlying issue and involves holistic and alternative methodology. I am a believer. I was blessed to have people cross my path, open my mind and show me an alternative to conventional medicine. I practice many of these “tree hugging” ways. I have seen them work in my own body, family and others. I want to share the passion and make a difference. I need help! I need people to join me in this movement and simplistic way of thinking.
99 is a number that shows up frequently in my life. I graduated nursing school and married in 1999. I also have a huge family history in aviation. I have been around airplanes my entire life. In 1929, there were 117 female pilots. Amelia Earhart called a meeting and 99 women showed up. They named themselves the 99's. Of course we can't forget Houston's finest, JJ Watt #99.
